Just another means of wasting Ability Points, same as the potions (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

You have to spend the ability points to upgrade all of the abilities, but they don't work unless they're placed in the Mastery section

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me either (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

This update has so screwed me over, so bad that I get killed in hourly events, and that's on normal!
I can't even begin to reach the arena levels I once did.

HV 0.76 is the biggest brain fart Tenboro has ever had.

MSimm1: The Mastery Slots you've unlocked are the same across all equipment sets, but you can slot different Masteries for different sets. Useful for, say, having a heavy and light set.

Actually, now you can just click the Ability whether it's red/green. (it was only drag/drop)

It will slot automatically inside the empty slot available.

That's true, but you'll never get them all unlocked unless you donate BIG time to the site for the gold stars

According to EHWiki you need 1247 ability points which is capped at 1000 and 63 mastery points which is capped at 50 (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Not that you'll ever need all the ability points or possibly all mastery points, but to level up 30 levels or more just
to unlock one mastery slot is a little ridonculous

Yes, but that means you don't need to get them all unlocked.

Granted, you can't play every style though. Which is a shame.

I agree on the shame part (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

But even as a mage, counting the general major abilities, such as HP,MP,SP, potions, plus add the spells you
cast there aren't enough Major slots to take full advantage of the playstyle, whether it be elemental or holy/dark (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Don't know about Melee, have never played it, but I'm guessing it'll be the same, you come up short on slots available

Yup, melee has lot of slots to spare. This is because a) no red slots are spent on spells at all, and b) Melee can get by with less supportive and deprecating magic - outside TTT, I don't even need deprecating. Meanwhile, mage needs all that melee needs.

But I'm more worried about low levels regarding that, since the abilities in general stay the same - but even as a melee, a level 150 wouldn't be able to slot everything I have slotted, despite having the spells available. A mage must probably sacrifice cloth and staff proficiency bonuses in large extent.

Only problem with sacrificing staff and cloth major slots is that makes magi even more squishy, which defeats
the whole purpose of having the major ability slots in the first place

I found that below lvl 100, you barely have enough abilities unlocked to fill your slots. I bought the abilities for everything just to see how they played, then once the resets on ability points became free, I sold off the things I didn't have fun with.

That said, I still haven't ridden deprecating until I got imperil. Is weaken the go-to deprecating grinder, or should I be trying something else?

Okay first I have 72.5 elemental proficiancy and i do not have tier 2 spells like inferno this totaly sucks cuz i only have fairy blast and thats totaly useless when your up against 9-10 monsters and your trying to survive and kill them at the same time.Secondly i like the mastery stuff but i lost a lot of HP and MP because of that and i'm a mage how am I supposed to do look how i die in arena challenge thats for level 90 again cant atack all 10 monsters i cant even hit half of them 4 mosters!!!!!
If you can improve the mastery stuff like exp mp health and spells it'll be cool I want all my spells back!!!!! GOT IT!!!!?!?!?!?!?
Next the monster thing is a total fail just put it back and for the high level players who have Monsters just make them fight = strong people and make them drop good stuff after all they will be hard to kill or make them in bosses with red or yellow colour so we know we need to be careful.
Next I love the wiki idea at the top will help noobs.
Last thing REMOVE THE TIERS THEY SUCK I CANT KILLS STRONG MONSERS with shitty spells

I have used a melee build since beginning and invested a lot of ability points (some of them unfairly deleted from my reserves by the patch) into elemental spells even if only for their (now gone) elemental resistencies bonuses but also kind of "finished" a lot of arena fights, grindfests and item worlds' last rounds only with elemental magic to gain a little profficiency with those or changed equipment sets to gain some of the other fighting styles' profficiencies. My suggestion is to use Item Worl of a crude item to raise elemental profficiency and not to overlevel too much at normal difficulty (I used to "farm" profficiency using crude items at the now gone easy difficulty).

I too have some 72.92~ elemental profficiency and I can use some of the tier 2 spells like inferno (perhaps you haven't slotted those into your quickbar or invested abilty points into their cathegories), maybe you can check the skillbook to see if they are there or not.

I think I stumbled upon a bug...

Before some revisions were made to the patch (us getting back some item slots, etc) I had Heavy HP maxed out and Archmage at Lvl2... After the revisions, I still had maxed out Heavy HP into the ability slot even though I was too low a level. I reset that ability's points and it got "fixed", but didn't remove it from the ability slots.

Then I reset Archmage (since my profficiency is low, I can't use tier 3 spells), but didn't remove it from the ability slots... It still remains there even though its icon is "greyed" out.

Non available abilities aren't supposed to be "slottable".

Maybe an oversight but a curious one.
