QUOTE(Ichy @ Jan 4 2013, 23:08) DS500
Lets see how this works out. If it is too weak i will chose the bigger one to replace my worthless Binge Boxes once they run out.
I also have some interest on that. Most of the dedicated servers I saw were much more expensive than that DS500 and it seems better value-for-money to have a few different VPS boxes instead. But for that price with 3 clients there may have some benefits.

Once I have set it up and have it running for a while i can tell you if it is worth it.Theoretically it should do far better then 3 VPS since I don't have to share with others.

Not sure if there is a single VPS provider worths recommendation but this [ www.photonvps.com] PhotonVPS simply needs to be put in permanent blacklist. Never able to sustain trust above +400 and always drops below 0.

Maye we should add the Providers we tested into the first post and rate them. Everything that creates more hath for the same money as Tenbs Adopt a Server Initiative and stable is good (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) Another question (for everyone) out of curiosity: Will you move your cache if you need to move server? Are there any details as to what generates hath? What is the difference between a 20 hath server and a 6 hath server.
Only thing I can figure out is that there seems to be a base 3 hath per day regardless of files served (or maybe that's just the first day, i'm new to this).

It is probably a mix of files served and Connection Speed. Don't worry it is normal to have something slightly above 3 at the first day since it needs to build up the Cache before it can do a lot of work.

The original formula is known, but some factors have been tweaked since that message. The following table shows the minimum client speed and number of files served daily in order to bring in a particular daily hath rate, if the original formula were still correct: CODE Hath/day Speed test Files/day 1 17 KBps 0 2 42 KBps 3,456 3 79 KBps 7,846 4 131 KBps 13,421 5 208 KBps 20,501 6 319 KBps 29,493 7 479 KBps 40,912 8 712 KBps 55,415 9 1,050 KBps 73,834 10 1,540 KBps 97,225 11 2,251 KBps 126,932 12 3,281 KBps 164,660 13 4,774 KBps 212,575 14 6,940 KBps 273,427 15 10,080 KBps 350,708 16 14,634 KBps 448,856 17 21,237 KBps 573,504 18 30,810 KBps 731,806 19 44,692 KBps 932,850 20 64,821 KBps 1,188,176 At least the speed test factor has changed, as my client gets 20 hath/day with a 12MBps speed. Somewhere a post exists by Tenboro says that it's based on 300+ connections per minute. That would put it between 432,000 and 576,000 connections for 20hath/day.
Here is some fuzzy math. Total Guess Work. I COMPLETELY MADE THIS UP. I think it sounds good though. If this were wikipedia someone would say Citation Needed! I'm now ready to go work in the Congressional Budget Office!
450,000 Files per day * average 250KB per file = 112,500,000 * 8 (going from bytes to bits) = 9,000,000,000 9,000,000,000 Kbits /24 (hours in a day) = 37,500,000 37,500,000 / 60 (minutes in an hour) = 625,000 625,000 / 60 (seconds in a minute) = 10,416.67 Kbps required speed through a day to average 20 hath a day.

QUOTE(G Just G @ Jan 7 2013, 14:51) average 250KB per file
Both my logs and my cache disagree with that: CODE xxx:~/H@H$ perl -e 'my ($sum, $count) = (0, 0); while(my $l = <>) {if($l =~ m@Code=200 Bytes=([0-9]{4,})\s+GET /@) {++$count; $sum += $1;}} print "".($sum / $count)."\n";' log/*_out 463018.505075218 xxx:~/H@H$ sh -c 'du -bs cache/ | egrep -o "^[0-9]+" && find cache/ -type f | wc -l && echo / && echo p' | dc 432941 It doesn't change you conclusion too much though: one shouldn't need more than a 20Mbps link in order to get 20 hath/day. Yet, if I set my client speed to 24Mbps, the hath rate drops to 15.31 hath/day, probably because faster clients give better users experiences, so they get a better reward. @Tenboro: may we have the new hath rate formula please ?

I think if you set the client speed, it affect the peak bandwidth - not the average bandwidth -> sometime the demand is high which requires more bandwidth than other times, for example. By setting the client speed, you reduced the capability of the server during peak demand. Just my 2 cent BTW

Testing out a VPS for the first time here. Went with a BuyVM-512 from FranTech since it was in stock. Transferred over 20GB of cache from my home server last night so I'm still waiting on it to get up to speed. (IMG:[ www.speedtest.net] http://www.speedtest.net/result/2422750526.png)(IMG:[ www.speedtest.net] http://www.speedtest.net/result/2422754919.png) So far I've set my burst to 4.75MB/s and cache limit to 25GB. What is likely a good target for the cache size? I don't really want to push this server too hard considering it isn't dedicated.

This. QUOTE(DemonEyesBob @ Jan 8 2013, 22:29) I'd kill for those rates.
They are not kidding on that "(faster than 99% of US)" comment.

I don't understand why G Just G can get so much hath. Because Tenboro's central dispatcher loves G Just G's clients? Isn't EU's capacity serverely under-utilized?

And the Hath/Day for nearly all my clients are decreasing these days, although not much change in speed measured / trust (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

It's because I've got roughly half of my servers running H@H. I have two C7000 enclosures with 16 BL460 G7's each (total of 32 servers). one in the US and one in the EU. The EU ones are on 10 gigabit/s links. To put it another way.... (IMG:[ 94.242.220.50] http://94.242.220.50/serv3rs.png) This post has been edited by G Just G: Jan 9 2013, 18:06

You'd have to ask Tenboro what percentage of traffic is getting routed to my servers as I haven't noticed a decline. Then again I have however had cache's in the building phase so that may be why I'm getting more GP. However, by score I have slightly less score than 2nd, 3rd and 4th combined. My guess is it's a large amount of traffic that might be affecting other users. I've asked for 3 more slots but still waiting on Tenboro to give them to me not sure I actually asked for them anymore.
