One thing I do want to clarify though. The Eila and the two Lise's were for practice proposes. If I do make the 48x48 icon set that Tenboro has requested, I will only officially submit generics character sprites, even for the established character boss mobs.

I'm not going to get into details of why I've made this choice. I'm only stating that it exceeds my comfort zone.

That's a sweet looking sprite. Not only is it cool-looking, but would make it easier to afk IW. It's a pity you aren't comfortable with doing more, because you are good at this. I might try my hand at it if it becomes a thing.

Not really, all I have been making so far is photomanips. Aside from removing the background, copy pasting the dress and hair to fill in the sides of the image and making sure the fine details didn't become obscured, that sprite I made for Ichy is just a resize of [www.google.com] this image, I didn't make it from scratch.

I like it better when it was just 16x16 because it so much easier to transform the image you've imported from the internet into something else, it's a method for jump starting what you are working on. The icons for piercing, slashing and crushing damage all spawned from a photo of a dagger for example. With these established character sprites, you're restricted to whatever character you've been given when using this method. And it just feels cheep quite frankly.

I'm not saying I won't make in the 48x48 icons for mobs, but I will only use the ones I feel pass the transformative threshold.

Don't be overly modest, we all know lots of people on the internet think they know how to do stuff with images and don't. Granted, if you are more skilled and take pride in what you do, you are absolutely justified in writing it off as unworthy. Personally, I think extracting and downsizing that image without ruining it isn't completely trivial. Sure, you didn't draw it, but you sure did a good job presenting it in that format.

That said, I feel you with the 16x16 and the transformation, because with that you're working with a vague outline instead of a complete image. At 48x48 though it might be possible to doodle something and have it end up looking pretty good, because we're not looking for detail at that resolution. It's still difficult with these anime characters but we do what we can.

By afk IW I mean holding down numpad buttons while watching stuff/reading stuff/talking to other people. The sprites will help you identify necessary breaks in the hold-down-1-then-2-then-3 when monsters that require delicate handling show up.

I've been wondering about something lately. I haven't been able to work on the icon project lately because, well, none your business.

I'm starting to think that because of this that I should publicly release what I have so far. I haven't done so yet because I wanted these icons to be HV exclusive I felt that doing so would risk someone running off with them.

Also, I wasn't kidding when I made this thread's subtitle. I was just playing around in Paint.NET one day and before I knew it I had made over 100 icons. Now because whatever it was I was going through has passed, and now I'm only motivated to make icons when something catches my eye and makes me want to play with graphics...

Okay, bottom line: I'm looking for the public's opinion on the matter. Should I release the icons publicly?

After putting some thought into it, I've decided what I'm going to for the time being.

I'm going to finish the "item/property" type icons, and then place them all onto a 512^2 icon sheet. This way, we will have an identifiable icon to go with our icons.

I'm also removing the 1x1 top left buffer from each icon (on the sheet at least), because without the implementation of the feature I suggesting here, there's no real point to making the icons 17x17. Plus stacking 16 is much easier to do in your than 17.

I've been trying to get back into the swing of things. I decided that my icon for cloth headgear was a bit ambiguous so I wanted to try again.
