Damn.... really. I'm a bit sceptic imagining that the putty section copy paste mechanism played a joke on us. Could you please this one by directly typing it in, please? CODE apt-get install default-jre
the worse than can happen is that this time the error messages will come ordered and easier to read.

okay manually typed it in. CODE root@Ichy:~# apt-get install default-jre Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done default-jre is already the newest version. You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these: The following packages have unmet dependencies: default-jre : Depends: default-jre-headless (= 1:1.6-43ubuntu2) but it is not going to be installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution). root@Ichy:~#
@ Bob: Hmmm I have to install a Filezilla first so it will take a moment. And how to I move to a folder? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

QUOTE(DemonEyesBob @ Nov 17 2012, 21:18) Oh Ichy, my heart goes out to you. Here, [ www.mediafire.com] download this and move it to your server (or download it from your server if you have a gui). Go to the folder you've placed it in (on the server), and type "sudo chmod a+x <thefilename>", then type "sudo ./<thefilename>", see if that installs. Edit: I stuck it on mediafire to save you from having to register with IBM. Edit2: You'll need to sudo that first command and probably the second. Great idea DemonEyesBob, let's just get a statically compiled jre! But I will need to ask you to get the x86_64 binary for Ichy. We did uname -a and the machine seems to be x86_64 whilst that IBM jre is i386 (and I high doubt that Ichy's machine have multilib support).

Nope I meant how to move to the file on my server (with putty) so I can type in the commands above. Linux does not have any fancy windows so I need another way.

I would just reinstall the OS and start from scratch.

Understand your feelings. But probably the guys administering the VM would just reload a snapshot and we will be back with APT without any repos... That's how customer service works (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) @Ichy Remove the '<' and the'>' and it will be fine This post has been edited by blue penguin: Nov 18 2012, 00:04

I'm sorry Ichy, <> is usually used to show a variable, I didn't mean for you to actually type them in! Like Penguin said, try it without the <>. sudo chmod a+x ibm-java-jre-7.0-3.0-i386-archive.bin sudo ./ibm-java-jre-7.0-3.0-i386-archive.bin We'll get it working, don't fret (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This post has been edited by DemonEyesBob: Nov 18 2012, 00:15

Don't worry, this is just the i386/x86_64 incompatibility. DemonEyesBob could you get the x86_64 binary pretty please? (I'm not registered with IBM) @DemonEyesBob About OpenVZ with 128MB of RAM. Wow! that's hardcore. I'm running mine H@H on a raspberry pi, it is limited but it at least have 256MB of RAM. QUOTE Now Im gonna sleep for a bit.
You're in Moscow, aren't you? It's quite late there by now...
