At Animal Rescue League of Berks County, children can read to shelter cats to soothe them. The cats
adore them and are always delighted to have these little humans there to keep them company.

Children in grades 1-8 who are able to read at any level are welcome into the shelter to read to the
cats at their adoption room. “The program will help children improve their reading skills while also
helping the shelter animals. Cats find the rhythmic sound of a voice very comforting and soothing,”
