Shit, I thought my cat was doing OK but that abscess she had on her rump filled up again and burst open tonight. Thank goodness I checked on her because she was licking the pus (it was so gross). I rinsed it off and called the vet's office and since it's night, the guy there said to bring her in tomorrow morning.

Now she's going to have to have surgery and I'm so worried. It's still leaking pus and she's got one of those big cone collars on right now so she doesn't lick it. I have to watch her because she's trying to lick the goo off the towel she's laying on. It's going to be a long night and tomorrow is going to suck.

Go to my university, study calculus, and do some Quiz. Wew ! that quiz is really hard, finish 4 questions about calculus, and all of the questions is really difficult. after that go home, and fall asleep. when I get up, I feel my stomach, and head is sick. now I just lie down on my bed.

Some calls.

I dismantled my coffee maker to find out why water would drip out of the bottom when I held it at a certain angle. It turns out it's leaking. Well, that may seem fairly obvious... I should point out that I have the world's worst designed coffee maker. Here are some of its undesirable features:

1. The water reservoir completely surrounds where the filter sits, meaning that every time I use it I risk spilling coffee grounds into the water. This inevitably happens every few weeks, and cleaning it out is a pain in the arse.
2. Steam condenses on the underside of the lid. Of course that isn't unusual in itself, but it's so constructed that when I open it, the water runs not into the reservoir but down the back of the machine and onto the work surface. Naturally, this concealed the fact that water was also leaking from somewhere inside, and may have been doing so for months or even years.
3. There are drainage vents on the base to let water out, but that's not where it comes out. If I tilt the thing over far enough, it runs out of a hole near the back. This reluctance to drain makes me worry about how close the water level is to the electrics. Did I mention that, due to space constraints in my kitchen, this device normally sits on top of the washing machine - which is made of metal?
4. To discourage people like me from performing their own maintenance, the base is held on by screws that need a special tool. Or an ordinary narrow-bladed screwdriver, a modicum of swearing and twice the usual amount of effort. Why do they bother?
5. The damn thing even seems deliberately designed to be hard to assemble. There are four little posts where the screws go, that have to fit into holes in the base. Will they go back in? Like hell they will. I had to round off two of them with a file before I could persuade the pieces to match up. (Whilst making sure not to file the insulation off any wires that might happen to lie nearby.)

So expect a forthcoming post to say "bought a new coffee maker".
