You actually responded to that wall?

What? No I don't read walls, I was responding in the general direction of a couple of posts before that.

QUOTE(hitokiri84 @ Aug 4 2012, 19:31) *
Then perhaps you should change it to staggered, because those don't exactly mean the same thing. Stun implies disorientation (and an inability to react.) Stagger does not.

No?

[www.thefreedictionary.com] stunned: 1. To daze or render senseless, by or as if by a blow.

adjective staggered, shocked, devastated, numb, astounded, bowled over (informal), gobsmacked (Brit. slang), dumbfounded, flabbergasted (informal), struck dumb, at a loss for words

[www.thefreedictionary.com] staggered: 1. To cause to totter, sway, or reel: The blow staggered him.

adjective astounded, amazed, stunned, surprised, shocked, shaken, overwhelmed, astonished, confounded, taken aback, bowled over (informal), dumbfounded, flabbergasted, stupefied, nonplussed, struck dumb, throw off balance

I never said they had the exact same meaning, but they are certainly close.

Stunned Monsters can parry?

I find it more scary to wear clothes which are full of monsters! And no matter how much I kill there are still more Monsters inside.

Tenboro probably meant to say "groggy" instead of "staggered". Both sleep and stun statuses in HV could be explained as giving a "groggy" effect to the monsters.

QUOTE
Dammit grunty, don't spoil that for me, I'm actually enjoying the anime quite a bit right now. Though my patience is starting to wane having to wait every week and I'm pretty tempted to just go and read the novels.

You may want the canon story, but please don't read the Sword Art Online light novels first if you are trying to enjoy SAO as a normal gary stu or mary sue anime. The light novels have extreme mary sue and ultra extreme gary stu chars to the point that even people used to reading light novels are going WTF is going on with these main chars that cannot fail and are genius, rich, handome, beautiful, well-mannered, more rational than most adults in contrasting situations, etc. The SAO are more extreme than even the self-insert Ah! My Goddess fanfiction stories I've seen while beta reading (and critiquing) before publication. The anime was carefully written to make the chars and events far more reasonable and less extreme than the light novels which are based upon a self-insert styled wish fulfillment category fanfiction that the author published on his own personal website.

If people can fight [thegallyblog.wordpress.com] better being [answers.yahoo.com] drunk, then surely monsters can evade/parry when they are stunned. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

I was just trying to suggest a way for you to end the complaining without having to do anything besides replacing one word for another. I don't care either way. However, you seem rather intent on saying they are close enough because someone listed them as synonyms on your source there, even though it clearly shows exactly what I said before.

But since they are close enough, you've only quoted support for why they shouldn't evade/parry/resist while stunned/sleeping, not that I expect you to change any of that.

Now I'm feeling dizzy. Man, my english isn't good enough to apprehend all what you are talking about what you can actually still do if stunned. But I think that if you are stunned you might be still able to react unconcsiously.

Given the current states of HV, the complains about stun starting to sound more and more reasonable.

Not that such bonus would change anything much anyway... (IMG:[bbs.pramool.com] http://bbs.pramool.com/webboard/pic/140.gif)

I might still change it. Stunned does sound "stronger" than Staggered, but I'm fairly sure the usage isn't wrong per se.

Who's idea was it to remake Total Recall, anyway? That would be like remaking Blade Runner.

I might watch a Verhoven remake of blade runner. Having seen the new Total Recall, a general warning to the forum would be to save your money. These people, by comparison, made Arnold seem worthy of a Best Male Actor Oscar. Moreover high speed camera cuts did not work for MTV and really does not work here either.

-- Salvaging equipment below Fine will not yield anything. (In other words, cleaning out the equipment shop won't get you anywhere.)

I have so far gotten a drop out of two average items that I salvaged. Most say nothing could be recovered but on occasion you get something.
Both were fresh off the monster with no enhancements or anything.

Salvaged a crappy Legendary Redwood...

(IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Aww, ninjad...

You know this wouldn't have happened if players were just unable to attempt salvage on inappropriate materials. Why punish them for not having read that it only works for fine+? You should simply disable the ability to salvage items below fine.

Also salvage should be a separate window, that shows only salvagable items, excludes items that are found in any of your sets, explains the rules of salvage, and shows the moogle bazaar sale price, and allows bulk salvaging.

Don't worry. That won't be part of the anime! It's not even set in SAO but Alfheim Online.

Except SAO is 2 cour and at the pace they are going, they are guaranteed to cover ALO as well.

Regarding the complaints on salvaging being misleading, all would probably be well if it was called scrapping instead. You scrap something by disassembling/destroying it for its parts. Is this not what salvaging is really "doing"?

My complain is that in about 70 % of my salvagings nothing gained. It's just sad to destroy items without any benefit. As it is, I feel lucky if a superior item dropps a lowgrade material at all.

Now I go to the shop first and have a look on the price I would get. If it's lower than 200 c, I consider Salvage. If the price is higher, I rather sell it.

CODE
105    5    Bleeding Wound hits Flying Spaghetti Monster for 2191 damage.
105    4    Spreading Poison hits Flying Spaghetti Monster for 780 damage.
105    3    You evade the attack from Flying Spaghetti Monster.
105    2    Your offhand hits Flying Spaghetti Monster for 2127 slashing damage.
105    1    You hit Flying Spaghetti Monster for 8743 void damage.

Just did a bout with the Flying Spaghetti Monster using DualWield. My main hand is a true ethereal mace and my offhand a sword chucks with hollowforged (my set #3). I made sure my statistics said both damage types were void before I started. I was surprised when I noticed that my offhand was doing slashing damage.

Now that I am out of the fight, my statistics say my offhand is doing slashing. Hovering over the sword chucks shows "One-handed Weapon Level 4 189/461" while tapping 'c' brings up a window with "One-handed Weapon Level 10 MAX". According to my IW tracking log, I passed Level 4 July 30th (little over 5 days ago).

Switching the set out and back brought back my offhand void damage type but entering a grindfest brought back my slashing damage. Upon exiting grandfest, my offhand damage type has returned to slashing.

----- edit -----

TheGreyPanther (Post #683) points out I said mace above. I meant club (I always get them mixed up).

varst (Post #682) says I should unequip and reequip the sword chucks. That does fix it.
