It's unfortunate how the honest players are getting punished over this but I guess it's to be expected. Not the first time anyways.

I have an inkling of who the first person that discovered it is, and it's pretty naive of him to think he could continue abusing it without being noticed.

Well shit now I got punished for not exploiting it and I'm back to level 4 (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif)

Since you tracked it why not just punish the fags who abused it and hand out the usual 1 month ban?
And set their Forge Level to 0.

I would have, but I wasn't logging salvages until some time yesterday when it was first reported. So unfortunately there's no way to split those who did it from those who didn't, even though there are some people I know for sure did do it.

The logging itself was something I did to decide how to deal with it. And every single person who was logged tried to do it at least once, so taken into account the time it's been going on and that seemingly very few people gained a high level legitimately, it was the only way to restore the system to any semblance of normalcy. Unfortunate though it may be for those few who didn't try to cheat the system.

Well for me that means Bindings and Mats I collected for month are wasted.
I hope at least the few you are sure of will be visiting boggy and bunko (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Also it still shows me I would get 17 exp for upgrading my Damage from 50 to 51. Cant be right since the level up will cost 1250. (edit: it just sows wrong but hands out the correct exp)

According to the displayed stats:

before ninja patch
Forge EXP gained: 10

afterwards
Forge EXP gained: 10

Meanwhile the required exp per level did indeed increase tenfold as far as I can tell.

When making a collective punishment, it's wise for the state to named some of the offender in order to allows the public's growing resentment to be release on to the offenders, otherwise it may reached critical mass— resulting in riots. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

You know, I believe you. There are some metrics I can run to fish out people who had a not insignificant amount of forge EXP and likely weren't cheating, it'll be a bit of manual work but I'll see what I can do for you.

Not really fond of your decision but I understand why you did it. Although I wished you had waited a bit longer so could have tracked more data to get a more comprehensive list of the people abusing it and to what extent they were doing it at. Oh well, what's done is done.

He'll still inevitably miss some mid ranges. Like with mysterious boxes. Of course not doing anything is worse. You know what? I don't know what should be done anymore.

Now i thank god to not have found more stuff to forge beyond my staff because i would have really been pissed if i had lost a lot of forge levels. Too bad everybody gets punished becaus of some black sheep.

A possible solution would be to reset the forge levels back to where they were at the start of 0.70. Considering that this bug was only exploitable due to the introduction of salvage, the forge levels gained in 0.6.9 would be completely legit. This seems like the solution that would be fairest to players across the board.

As it is, the current situation is that people that have never abused the bug, people that have abused it slightly, and people that have abused it since the get-go are all being lumped together and punished the same way. Resetting the forge back to the start of 0.70 won't fix everything but it's the closest thing it'll get without all the hassle involved.
