Currently doing the 1H heavy thing, but have also done dw and 2H with light. Haven't done the niten thing as I haven't found good enough weapons in my way of thinking. Still looking for a good eth 2H weapon to drop.

I must say I like the special attacks of dw a lot, but 1h and 2h also have their good points. I'm having fun which is why I'm playing in the first place. So, if you ask, I say do what you have fun with.
