Yeah, that really does sound just like my problem. I haven't noticed this issue with 5.4.0 yet, and I completed the level 90 arena challenge with it, so it probably would've happened if it's loosely tied to long runs as it seemed to be before. I don't have the stamina right now to try a decent item world run (on far less than IWBTH so as to allow myself to complete it), but I should be able to try the level 100 arena challenge today.

Most likely it was introduced in 5.4.1, I shuffled the code around to improve speed on Chrome so maybe something's running too early on Firefox.
The problem is, alot of the time it's trial and error on my part and with an intermittent bug it makes it near impossible. Like I said though, it'll probably get fixed in another update.
Hopefully sooner than later.

EDIT: It doesn't help that Firefox is so picky about what it'll run. Something as simple as a type error will cause Firefox to not run the rest of the script. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Thanks for reporting.

It seems like Javascript exception occurred.
To reproduce the bug on our PC, post the following information.
  • Browser type and version
  • Screen shot of HVSTAT's settings pane
  • Screen shot when the problem happened
  • Screen shot or text copy of Javascript console when the problem happened
To open Javascript console:
-Chrome: Press Ctrl+Shift+J.
-Firefox: Install "Firebug" addon in advance. Then press F12.

I got the problem again for a few rounds in the arena (in Endgame if it matters). I actually had to restart firefox (version 14.0.1) because it started getting laggy when the problem happened. When the battle was reopened, the issue of missing info was still there. The info came back after a round or two.

I forgot to grab screens of the issue because I'm an idiot. Anyways, here's the settings I had toggled on (no defaults were toggled off).

I'm trying to reproduce the problem.

BTW, I didn't know that there is no way to debug Greasemonkey scripts with Firebug.
Does anyone know how to debug Greasemonkey scripts?

The way I have been doing it is spend countless hours... and cry a lot.

The smallest issue can cause the script to just do nothing at all or otherwise fail significantly,
so I comment out sections until I find the exact line/lines that cause the issue. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Sometimes, in arena fights, with chrome and 5.4.0, the script hasn't time to load up and we have round without info (hp, etc)

Because I think other developers have no enough time to test, I release latest code as beta version.

I tested code where I wrote, but might be missed.
Please report if you found a problem.

This is beta version!
Version 5.4.1.4 (Beta for 5.4.2.0) [github.com] Download Here

I tried this beta and it has a serious memory leak problem.
Playing a IWBTH Arena slower and slower. Checked chromes memory usage which was at 500 MB. I unactivated HV Stat and reloaded the page. Memory usage was now 60 MB.

I'm using Chrome 21.0.1180.60 on windows 7.
Javascript console showed no errors.

As Chrome doesn't allow downgrades I will have to uninstall it.
Will that delete all my saved stats also?

It's so tough. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif)
I just pray to reproduce in Chrome at the moment.

Open task manager of Chrome (press Shift+ESC), then check memory usage of the task "Tab: The HentaiVerse".
When I ran "The Trio and the Tree", the task used 120MB. (Chrome 21.0.1180.60 on windows 7 64bit)

Your stats saved in the file "{System Drive}:\Users\{your login name}\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Storage\http_hentaiverse.org_0.localstorage".
Usually, Chrome does not delete this when uninstalling. Take the backup manually if you're concerned.

I had this same issue with Eve of Death.
I thought HV was just running on molasses since it took approximately an hour to complete on BT.
Closed the window to be done with it, and saw this thread.
I opened chrome up again to see if my hourly was any better and it was back to lightning.
With task manager open I gradually saw the memory usage go up and up, and my performance go down and down.
Just clicking around, HV seems fine for now, but maybe that's because I'm not in battle and thus not relying on STAT as much.

greentea, it seems you only gave GreyPanther a way to check his usage, not a fix. Is such a thing possible?
Or should I just rummage through to find an older version?

Sometimes HVStat would run before the HP bars had finished downloading. As HP is calculated by the width of the HP bar, it would cause the script to fail pretty early on.
This was fixed in 5.4.1

Can you please post which options you have on. This will help us to narrow our search for the memory leak.
If you want to downgrade, greentea039 provided instructions on how to back-up your stat data.

There is no fix at this time but posting what options you have enabled may help us to find one.

EDIT: On a related note, we are currently developing a framework for HentaiVerse related mods which should enable users to manage their mods and settings much easier. It's being coded with performance, manageability, user-friendliness and compatibility in mind. So that might be something to look forward to.
It should also make mod creation substantially easier as cross-browser compatibility will be handled by the framework itself rather than it's add-ons.

Sure, thanks again for working on this and troubleshooting too.

That new framework certainly sounds amazing, I'll look forward to seeing it around.

The memory leak problem seems to be a bug in Chrome. Reference [code.google.com] here.

EDIT: This may not related to Windows.

Firefox 14.0.1 with HV Stat 5.4.0

I did just install HV Shop System 0.5.5 today, but I disabled it and reloaded, and it remained like this:

I have been consistently seeing the same issue as ohey on chrome using script v5.4.1.4 [BETA] (and earlier).

I THINK it only happens when I play too fast but I am not quite sure. Missing parts get readded on the next round when I perform an action. (except on the rare case it happens twice or thrice in a row)

I just installed the 5.4.1.4 to chrome and under the extension I get this message what is it?
There were warnings when trying to install this extension:
This extension includes the key file 'dnatabar-HVSTAT-f40b361\privatekey.pem'. You probably don't want to do that.

what is privatekey.pem???

QUOTE(Shadowsong @ Aug 5 2012, 07:07) *
I just installed the 5.4.1.4 to chrome and under the extension I get this message what is it?
There were warnings when trying to install this extension:
This extension includes the key file 'dnatabar-HVSTAT-f40b361\privatekey.pem'. You probably don't want to do that.

what is privatekey.pem???

"privatekey.pem" is used to create packages for future upgrade.
"dnatabar-HVSTAT-f40b361.zip" contains all files necessary for development.

HVSTAT users can just download from [github.com] here.

that is where I downloaded the zip from but as long as it's not damaging or malicious I wont worry about it.

Download the crx files, not the zip.

When you click [Download as zip], it zips the development files. They're the absolute latest version of the code (bleeding edge) and may or may not work at all.

Generally they run but there could be terrible bugs we haven't caught yet.
Do not recommend.
