I think he doesn't want to have to click on the little circles and stuff to deselect or select which categories he wants to search in.

Actually I think he means having a list of tags with check-boxes that you can select/deselect, instead of writing out the tags yourself, which I think, is totally redundant.

Er no do you know many tags there are? Especially the rarer ones. Just the fetish tags alone would fill your screen twice over. Then we have character tags, series tags, artist tags, circle tags, etc...

Do you mean no as in "no, it's not redundant" or "no, he doesn't mean that"? Former: that's why I don't think it should be implemented, and actually I don't see how your line clashes with mine. Latter: erm... ok.
