Hi, I'm thinking of going mage and I need some advice on magic.
What equipment here can I borrow to increase my magic damage the most and what spells would you recommend?
Spells: Elemental area of effect are the most important. You need at least two of them because casting in the right order does more damage. In my experience, electric and then fire works best. Always max them out, 5 ability points per spell. If you don't have enough points, train abiliy boost a few times.
Holy isn't very useful until you can cast it's counterpart dark spell, unlocks at level 150.
I never used any deprecating but some people do, look at the wiki for other advice.
cure and regen are essential. Sometimes i use Cure II. Regen II is very nice, unlocks at level 150.
Protection i never use, i don't think it's very good but i'm not sure.
Shadow veil is good at any difficulty, save more on heals than i costs.
Haste is very important at higher difficulty, but you may not need it at normal.
Absorb: see Protection
Spark of Life: with this you can suddenly play on IWBTH, very cool.
Arcane Focus: nice, but try to cast it on a channeling or it costs a LOT of mana. Certainly worth it in longer battles.
attributes:
int is most important, let's you do more damage. At later levels, agility may be more important because you need speed
wisdom is second (or thirth)
dex is completely worthless
armor:
the coolest is phase armor with damage bonus on your favorite damage spell, for me that would be electric/fire below level 150, dark or holy after. "of the fox" is a second choice, more int gives more damage. Gossamer with proficience bonus works too.
staff:
this is a hard choice. Either redwood:
"of destruction": most damage.
"of focus": hit more often & make more crits (often underestimated) & all spells are cheaper, not just damage.
My choice was to find a focus staff that has high damage but many prefer destruction staffs.
I'm too lazy to compare all the stuff i have so i'll let you do that yourself (IMG:[
