Yes, the one about about the Nazis. More sites should adopt a "master race" mentality, it really does wonders for morale.
I can get behind this. The failing of that mentality is incorporating eugenics. It's been proven time and again that intelligence, respect, loyalty, cognitive skill, artistic skill, humor, and pretty much anything else a decent human being likes about another decent human being cannot be bred. All those traits are more learned than inherited.

That said, an online meritocracy where earning favor is as simple as being a good considerate person would be pretty nice. I imagine anti-newbie rage would still occur, which defeats the purpose a little, but let's be honest: you really can't have a peaceful community unless they all have somebody in common to hate.

The lack of proper behavior education is why modern societies are going to shit. I wish the US had a proper education system beyond "Memorize all this shit from these textbooks". Nobody respects the knowledge because they don't see the point and don't care when they could be out smoking pot and banging.

Wish we could re-institute corporal punishment in schools.

As for online communities, I think the worst shit is the idea that you should be nice to everyone no matter what. It curbs creativity. On deviantart (which is bad for the most part don't get me wrong) there are standards you have to conform to regarding your art and content, and if you break those rules (caught tracing or something) you will be shunned or banned. With shit like 9gag promoting what is essentially idea-tracing where people take a well established idea or two and just mash it around and resubmit it, people turn into huge retards since you aren't seeing new content most of the time and are just rehashing old old shit.

Also 'likes' and whatnot are terrible. I only started posting here because I heard karma was getting phased out. The worst shit is when people are expected to be respected for some arbitrary number rather than the quality of their words. (although it seems like it wasn't that big of a thing before anyway)

Funny, I think Rob was saying the opposite about deviantArt. He was apparently attacked for giving criticism on folks' work instead of just saying it's great. Of course, this is Rob, so his idea of criticism may not be considered constructive by everyone.

Well I kinda meant the idea of deviantArt. I haven't used it for years so it may have gotten much worse than I remember.

Most of the online communities of the internet are being saturated by apologists and 'make everyone happy'ists

My plan to just not read threads that I know will be uninteresting seems to be working so far. The curiosity is eating away at me still, but at least I know intuitively that scratching that itch won't make it feel better.

People who want to actually become part of the forum try to learn the established way things are done. They try to slowly interject themselves into the conversations we already have going on, actually introduce themselves and learn the ropes before they start bringing a lot of attention to themselves. When you have someone with only 1 post and they've been a member for like 2 years and that post is a pointless thread, they aren't going to be contributing members.

It's really not that hard to tell who's making an effort and who's not.

Some people just don't care; others even start to read it and dismiss it. Introspection is never an easy thing for people who are usually pretty sure of themselves. I've ranted enough about the need-it-now generation before, so I won't do it again right now.

If people would look at the post date of the last post before they post.. things would be better.

If the thread's last post was under about two weeks it's fine to post, yet here you see people who necropost shit from last fucking year!

Yeah, but the thread hasn't been revived with an amusing post like four's.
So instead of necroposting random crap better leave this topic in a peaceful death.
