Okay, I thought I wasn't going to post in here and stick with merely reading the thread as usual, but I'm going to give it a try. It took me so long to write this shit that Rob and Blorg ninja'd me and I'll probably have to rephrase some of the stuff afterwards.
So... FourThirteen went through the trouble of creating a thread and sacrificed some of his time to explain how the Internet works. As he said - and he was probably honest - he tried to be genuinely helpful.
Among those who took the effort to read and try to comprehend the thread, there are the ones who are commonly labeled as the EH trolls because they have seen a shitload of awful posters (including yours truly) and have had enough of trying to teach them how to behave in a politically correct manner, so they do it in their own way.
Radixius and Captain Kleenex took the time to explain why they behave in such a way towards old and new awful posters.
QUOTE(radixius @ Jan 30 2012, 07:17)

Why defend them if it won't do any good? If they have a decent personality, they'll stick around and be decent members. If they're shit then they'll just pollute the pool with their sticky, rubbery detritus.
Don't suggest that we're garbage right off the bat, I've already explained, and I'm sure you're aware, that the power of suggestion is a powerful, powerful thing. So why use it to make this place seem worse than it is?
QUOTE(cptkleenex @ Jan 30 2012, 07:32)

People who want to actually become part of the forum try to learn the established way things are done. They try to slowly interject themselves into the conversations we already have going on, actually introduce themselves and learn the ropes before they start bringing a lot of attention to themselves. When you have someone with only 1 post and they've been a member for like 2 years and that post is a pointless thread, they aren't going to be contributing members.
Rob himself took the time to write a
mea culpa and explain how thin-skinned people could cope with his excessive love, and then got his post ruined by the next joke of a poster.
QUOTE(Robbie Pie @ Feb 2 2012, 04:17)

I just like being a dick to people. It isn't about hate or personal grievances. I don't know or care to know the people I accost here enough to harbor such emotion. Sure there's people here to whom I grown to dislike, but those feelings aren't unjust and I couldn't care less about them enough to wish any . Personally, if you're that offended by text from a complete stranger on the Internet, you either need to loosen the fuck up or go outside and deal with the assholes of the real world.
In short, there's an ignore button you can use and there's plenty parts of the forums the supposed "trolls" here don't normally venture in or normally "troll" people in, so it's not like you're without options. It seems most people just rather choose to bitch.
They have to justify themselves whenever someone awful does something wrong and gets into a dramafest because it's bad etiquette to tell someone where to get off. Think about it, though. Like Four said, is the fault only on their side, or is it shared ?
People have the right to write about something. It's called freedom of speech. This same freedom of speech you have also allows others to disagree with your point and maybe even find it annoying, especially if it contributes nothing to the conversation, or, in this case, to the section. It's even a subforum rule.
QUOTE
Useless Posts - Do not post messages in the forum that contribute nothing to the conversation. It's considered to be highly annoying to do so, so unless you have something to say, don't.
I've made the mistake and unawarely broke the subforum rule on my first active months. Several times. A lot of times, actually. Rob, Radixius, FourThirteen and Blorg pointed that to me in their own way, and I refused to understand it. Now I'm thankful to them and trying to avoid posting on the normal sections when I feel something isn't worth being said, and use the below code of conduct instead. I have personality issues, so maybe I still do it when I post in the General Chat, and when I do, I sure hope someone will tell me, because else I won't be aware of it. Whether it is Rob casually telling me to nibble on his manly pole or Sayo seriously telling me that didn't really need to be said, the point is the post was useless and I shouldn't have made it.
There, now they know some of their effort didn't go to waste. Or at least, I hope so.
If you need to get something off your chest but is of questionable interest, the Free Speech Zone exists. If you need to spam or increase your post count, there's a specific section for it, too - the Spamhaus.
Whether you are of the chaotic buttfuck evil or the awful good school of thought, the point just has to get through. And remember what Four said.
Don't take everything seriously. If you went through the trouble of reading this, here's a bonus quote. :3

People really should learn that IQs and MENSA don't mean jack shit.
This. Someone should invent a everyday life issue survivability test. Some of those people constantly boasting about their three-digit number and how they are
the smart will be genuinely shocked.
