I dunno, I kinda like that Tenboro is mixing things up a bit. I'm pretty sure that even with the addition of Weapon Skills, the strategy for mages is still much more complicated than it is for melee. And this keeps it from being *too* mindless for me. I do agree it needs some more tweaking, but at least the "it doesn't deplete all of Overcharge when you use a Skill" thing is a tremendous help.

It's not too bad as a mage once you figure out elemental weaknesses of monsters (although some just power their way through everything). I think it's heading in a good direction with melee because there was no hope for melee in its previous state. If melee performed as quick/as efficiently as mage with the past mechanics (holding down numpad keys) on low difficulties I would have swapped over to melee in a heartbeat.
With the skill implementation+cooldowns, overcharge has value again (much more so than the previous patch). It also allows melee to be strengthened much more because it's much more interactive. Not sure if people will get what I'm trying to say but yeah.

melee skills just need hotkeys/hoticons to be really usable
also spirit tank should no longer be a prerequisite for overcharge tank

If spirit stance also reduced the cost for using skills I think it would be more viable (doubtful that there will be that sort of implementation). Right now, it's a toss up between hitting an opponent through spirit stance (more cost effective in most cases) than using skills (usually at the last rounds/bosses and 2h makes use of it really well if there's ~10 opponents).

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Jun 16 2009, 14:07) Yes, every night I secretly turn down player hit/cast chance and increase monster damage. If it's a full moon out, I also drop the loot drop chance and quality. Before long you won't be able to hit anything, and the monsters you won't be able to kill will be dropping pieces of lint. Just as keikaku.

It's already started (he was able to hit and kill it apparently)

well, (speaking of Tenboro) when you create a whole universe...can you really think much about where it's going to end up when you start? some residents are happy, some are sad, some curse you and other's venerate you...and some switch their positions 180 degrees after the sun rises. But you just have to keep on keeping on..and that's life in the HV universe!
Awesome.

Vital Strike (Tier-2 one handed weapon skill) seems bugged, it gives the enemy bleeding wound but the wound effect seems to deal no damage. Evidence below
27 4 The effect Bleeding Wound on Apathetic Canuck has expired. 27 3 Apathetic Canuck misses the attack against you. 27 2 You evade the attack from Plutonium Dragon. 27 1 You hit Plutonium Dragon for 561 piercing damage. 26 6 The effect Chain 2 has expired. 26 5 The effect Regen has expired. 26 4 The effect Protection has expired. 26 3 Regen restores 60 points of health. 26 2 Apathetic Canuck misses the attack against you. 26 1 Your attack misses its mark. 25 6 Regen restores 60 points of health. 25 5 Plutonium Dragon hits you for 79 crushing damage. 25 4 Apathetic Canuck hits you for 163 piercing damage. 25 3 The effect Stunned on Apathetic Canuck has expired. 25 2 The effect Penetrated Armor on Apathetic Canuck has expired. 25 1 You hit Apathetic Canuck for 652 piercing damage. 24 4 Apathetic Canuck is agitated! 24 3 You block the attack from Plutonium Dragon. 24 2 You hit Apathetic Canuck for 774 piercing damage. 24 1 You gain 0.03 points of one-handed weapon proficiency. 23 1 You hit Apathetic Canuck for 851 piercing damage. 22 3 The effect Chain 1 has expired. 22 2 Plutonium Dragon misses the attack against you. 22 1 You hit Apathetic Canuck for 989 piercing damage. 21 5 Plutonium Dragon misses the attack against you.
21 4 Vital Strike hits Apathetic Canuck for 3779 piercing damage. 21 3 Apathetic Canuck gains the effect Bleeding Wound. 21 2 You gain the effect Chain 2. 21 1 You use Vital Strike.

that's pretty interesting. i don't know if it's a bug or intentional. if i remember right, that bleeding wound is necessary for the tier 3 weapon skill to work

I mentioned this in a past post. It doesn't work for any weapon that doesn't inherently cause bleeding. Using a weapon that causes bleeding (e.g. shortsword) will cause it to work. @dcherry The third skill will still work since the weapon still procs bleeding. It just doesn't register any bleeding damage. This post has been edited by Ratio: Feb 9 2012, 00:00

that was my point =p
i'm saying it may have been implemented so that the skill would support tier 3 regardless of the mainhand weap being used. if you're already using a bleeding weapon, you benefit from that guaranteed bleed but i think the main purpose was to guarantee the tier 3's usability (otherwise it'd force 1h users to use *only* bleed weapons in order to use tier 3 skill effectively)

I dunno... seems pretty unintentional to me. It's kind of like how the stun and blind produced always has a set time and effect. I think it's more likely that a working equation for bleeding damage caused by the skill hasn't been made yet. Maybe Vital Strike should proc Lifestream. Still fits the name anyway (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Skyward Sword's bleed was bugged at first to be a constant 25 (no scaling) but was fixed. This is probably also just a bug
