I'm up for any freebies one could hand out to a newbie like myself. Just started and I'm planning on being a ... mage so anything for mage is (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif).

I sent him an equip for each slot. It's done.
OP, in the interest of newbies, could you put this in the first post:
NEWBIE CORNER: You can send one of the following people a PM if you don't have anything and are just starting out. Please include your wanted playing style (2handed, dual-wield, sword and board, caster) and wanted armor type (mage, leather, heavy).
When they send you the equipment, the unofficial way to give back is to press their +Karma buttons for a few days every day.

Yeah, I added both parts. If you want to be added to the list of people that give to newbies, please either post here or PM me. This post has been edited by Razorflame: Dec 7 2011, 12:22

For some reason the items I had before were a lot better than the items you gave me.. o_O
Sorry even though I'm a noob that started 1 day ago, I guess I was smart enough to pick up the game quickly and get decent items..? or the items you sent me were just really bad.. @atomicity

It would probably help if you mentioned what equipment you had to start with. If you're given high-level equipment, it automatically scales to your current level. Sometimes, the stats do end up lower than what you're currently using, but in the long run sticking with the higher-level equipment is a better option.

I was sent level 20-30+ items from atomicity which would range to ~1500c.. which I am grateful for, but does not help since all the items I currently have are around level 100.. was thinking since I am new, a level 200+ item or something would be of great help. And I guess I'm a melee user, although at this starting point I could go any direction.

I'm sorry I sent you stuff you didn't need, but I didn't realise what kind of gear you need.
Also, you do know that level 200 items aren't very good for you because they have high interference stats and all other stats are scaled to your level, so you can't actually use high-level items to good potential?
I purposefully sent you items with low interference and burden because you are low level and have low proficiencies, so you can't deal with high-level equipment that well. Believe me, I know, i got twinked by a high-level when starting out as well and I don't use any of that equipment anymore, I got better drops in the meantime.
So, always look at the number in the parentheses (+1.64) not the number before.

That is some good advice.. lol, will go further into it. Thank you.
Hmm.. checking again after a great range of items.. the higher lvled items still end up giving me better stats, maybe I just need better lower lvl items.

Now that there is a list of people on the first post that would be willing to give you free items, please, before making a post here, PM the people listed on the list on the first post.
If they have no items to give you, then post here.

That's great, it means you got items with good base stats. You still do need to check though. I'm actually working on a python script that will optimize your equipment automatically because juggling with 500 different drops and interference stats is a nightmare. I'll probably be able to get it done next week when I'll be snowboarding in france and won't have the internets for long times.
