The author makes mistake of kanji (not "磁" but "滋").
It's "滋養強壮" and means "nutritional fortification".

Personally, I've never used any sort of OCR. Part of recognizing those (at this point) is definitely experience. But for anything I can't recognize, there's still Denshi Jisho's [jisho.org] awesome radical search. Alternatively, there's also [kanji.sljfaq.org] one neat site (that I pretty much never use, actually =/ ) where you can try to draw what you see, and it'll show you some kanji it could be.

I forgot IPA a long time ago. =/ But Japanese pronunciation is mostly pretty simple, with the vowels sounding mostly like Spanish vowels (you might look at [en.wikipedia.org] wikipedia if you want IPA notation for those vowels, and/or the consonants). The monkey wrench in the works for 'yukihyou', though, is the 'ou' combination, which is just a long 'o'.

(If I had to say, I'd say the accent is on 'hyo', but I could be wrong. Accent isn't something I generally consider consciously, for Japanese or English. =/ )

As PeopleDon'tDanceNoMore said, Denshi Jisho is your friend. Also a piece of software called Wakan. That way all you have to identify is one or more radicals, and then search manually.

Really, i need denshi jisho even for vocabulary that i would know if it were written in kana. My Japanese education went really light on the kanji, so a lot of words i know i wouldn't know to read :/

Japanese 'o'. (And as I said, Japanese vowels are similar to Spanish vowels, or you can check [en.wikipedia.org] wikipedia's notation.)

Edit: and when I say "long", I mean that it takes two "morae" (that is, the length of two syllables (essentially)).
