Thanks Miralisque, though I'm really more concerned with who "Kuroiwa-sensei" might be. I'm wondering if this is some sort of dated reference; Urusei Yatsura is pretty old, after all.

Big Magnum Kuroiwa Sensei? That was about the same time period, though admittedly I don't know what it's about.

I would agree for どうでもいい, but she says よくなってきて (s.th/s.o. is getting/will get better) instead of just いい. So are we really still talking about the idiom: "I don't care", does she say something more literal like: "No matter what, I have to get better...". Well but I think here I mixed up どうしてでも and どうでも which appears <only> in the idiom... ?

"なってきて" just means "becoming".
So, N04h translated it as "anymore".

Looking for help on something on this page:
Attached Image

In the third panel the guy says: "今日はダムダルの再放送があるから…"

Any idea what show "ダムダル" is a reference to? For background, the guy is a figure collecting maniac. My tentative guess is "Gundam" but I'm really not sure.

The thing is, mangaka are tend to change name a little when it come to famous brand names or similar, be it illegal or not. For example
In No game no life (ノーゲーム・ノーライフ) Manga, Amazon.com became Anazon (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
(This was a very fun joke, so I still remember it even now (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) )
Gintama is a manga dedicated to this kind of jokes, so don't even bothers counting the wrong title/brand names (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
... and many other using McDonald's(マック), Lawson(ローソン), etc... that I don't recall from where right now.

So if you believe it's a Gundam reference, then either go for it or change to Gundarn, Gundal, Gundaru... you call.

you're probably correct but you can just leave it as Damudaru.

@kumosu, N04h
Thanks for the suggestions.

Since I'm not confident enough to know for certain, I'll go with what N04h said.

Hey there, guys! I've got a couple quick questions about a few of lines that I'm having trouble with.

This girl says that she was caught shoplifting, and that this happened to her:

親と先公から総攻撃くらったよ。

Is it saying that she received "先攻撃" from the teachers? I've looked that word up in a dictionary, but it says that it means a general attack; general offensive. I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean in this context. Is it like a referral or something?

At a different part of the story, she and a different girl are waiting at night for something to happen, and she says:

ビビんなよ

I'm not sure what "ビビ" means here.

There are a couple other lines from a different story that I'm having trouble with, and I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me what they say.

向こうから迫れたとはいえ

and

アンタにとって不本意だろうが ただ...とは言わんその代わりに

I understand parts of those sentences, but as a whole they're just confusing me for some reason.

総攻撃 means getting yelled at/told off

ビビんなよ or ビビる means to freak out adding んなよ makes it 'don't freak out'

(IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) ?? Are you using machine translation or is that a mistyping?

親 mean parents, 先公 is a slang word for Teachers, 総攻撃 mean a combine attack, but 攻撃 has many, many, many different meaning when translating to English, and in this case mean criticized, yelled at by her parents and teacher.

QUOTE

ビビる mean nervous, get cold feet, so I can assuming that she tells the different girl to not freak out or not chicken out now.

See how I pick up the meaning of words up there? One page, part of a script, link to the Manga, even a short description... they are all important information for us to determined how to translate those sentences.

So if you gave us nothings, we are pretty much in blind here, and I'd rather not give you the general meaning, or it won't be different from machine translatorium (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

The first line is from the last speech bubble on this page. I tried looking it up in my pocket dictionary (I need a better dictionary), but it wasn't in there. I got the "general attack" definition from this online dictionary:

Oh, yeah. Sorry. lol Here some context.

The last two lines are from this manga:
https://e-hentai.org/g/370302/411f74663c/

In the first chapter, the main character ends up having sex with some girl he doesn't know because she thinks he's some kind of sex slave trainer. The first line is in the first speech bubble on this page right after he finishes banging her:

https://e-hentai.org/s/e0e32cd86e/370302-28

The girl from the first chapter, Pochi, has a friend, Mike, who also thinks that the MC is a sex slave trainer. Mike askes the MC to be Pochi's companion, then she says the second line I asked about which is at the bottom of this page:

https://e-hentai.org/s/7cc81721af/370302-38

Hope this is better. Thanks!

So I've got a strange question this time. I've basically finished my script for the Urusei Yatsura! doujin I was working on before. The story is called プラスネジ. Ataru (protagonist) sticks one of Rei's (an alien's) discarded horns on his head and discovers that it won't come off. What's more, the more he touches it, the bigger his dick grows. Fun times are had by all, and the doujin ends some time later when Lum asks him about the horn falling off. Ataru says it has, but now the tip of his dick is a plus shape, like a Philliphs-head screw (プラスネジ).

Here's the question: is there a joke I'm not getting? I can't help feeling like the the title is some sort of pun that I'm just missing. Obviously the title references Ataru's fate in the last page, but where the hell did that even come from? It seems completely random when set against the rest of the doujin plot.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there some sort of hidden wordplay in プラスネジ that I'm just not seeing?

Thanks for any help!

I have some problem QC-ing this page, and even though the translator gave me great insight, I couldn't figure out how to reword it to keep the double-entendre and crude humor of that sentence. So I would like some suggestion or idea for this.

「お前らはエイでも掘 ってんのがお似合いなんだよ!」

Rough/Straight-forward translation: "Why don't you butt-fuck each other, it suits you perfectly!"

Issue: The sentence also refers to "sticking a stingray up their ass" as double-entendre. And we'd like to have that humor in the translation

Translator's rambling/insight:

QUOTE
this one is not a problem, that's a no-brainer; "temee" is a vulgar word to show frustration (usually used by young males/tomboyish girls) and a rough equivalent would be "you [fucker]!", "kore ijou" literally means "from now on" but in context would be more like "stop right there" (wait for the rest though), uzugitanai is an adject

As I pointed out, "horu" is used to refer to anal sex between males, and is vulgar slang. As for the ei, I have no clue - if she indeed is referring to the fish, that is, the ray/stingray, she's basically saying that those guys are homos who would even go fuck a stingray.

Yes, ei is the scientific term for a stingray, but is this to be interpreted as that or their moaning as they fuck each other anally?

she could also be telling them to put a stingray up their own ass, and the horu in this case would put an emphasis on the fact they're male and that's about it (literally, it means "to dig)

掘る【ほる】 (kanji info)
(v5r,vt) (1) to dig; to excavate; to hollow; (2) to delve into; (3) to dig up (e.g. vegetables); (4) (sl) (vulg) (for two men) to have anal sex; (P)
See my confusion? it's indeed double entendre. If bang-you's stuff is full of this, holy shit. Sure, it's fun, but 1 month on a translation, better get half of the community laughing when it's out

So yeah 1) she's either telling them to go fish for a stingray (and put it up their asses) or 2) she's telling them to go buttfuck each other, in any case, the last part doesn't change, "oniai" means fitting, so "fits you right/suits you right/whatever you decide to QC that as"or both and we have to find an English equivalent to keep the double entendre
