This is just looking for some insight into the classification of these things because I have a gallery in which the misc tag is being voted up where I feel that that is not the appropriate classification. (for reference, https://e-hentai.org/g/426532/e698948873/ )

Basically, the issue is that I think people are operating under the assumption that if it's 3D, it belongs under misc regardless of anything else. That's probably what's happening since the tag gets voted up to some degree on pretty much any 3D gallery. I did some searching and saw this post,

QUOTE(Spectre)
Just for clarification: Misc is for galleries that cannot be categorized into "any of the other gallery categories present". EVERYTHING in misc can technically be classified to "something else" but none of those classifications meet the other categories, hence why they are misc.

It's true that this gallery is 3D, but it's also true that the 3D images are merely the content in a typical Japanese doujin soft. In other words, because the images come from a doujin soft, it does not meet the above definition of a misc gallery as something which cannot be categorized into the other categories. That's what the game cg category is for--images ripped from a game*--right?

*Some would say the nature of the work is not so much a "game", but then again I would say the same thing about most visual novels. That's just needlessly complicating things though, the method I operate on is that if the CG had to be extracted from some sort of software, then it's game CG regardless of what the actual "game" is like

3D are classified as Misc. That was in ROE, but now it's removed. Still taggers tag it with Misc.

But a doujin soft is still a doujin soft even if it's in 3D. It's misleading to categorize it as something else because of the content of the images, that's what the tags are for. It'd be like having a separate category for furry or something.

What's the purpose behind putting it in misc? I can understand putting 3D things into that category if it's something like some guy's screenshots he took from the interactive portion of an Illusion game or something where there's no actual CG set to rip, but it seems weird to put limitations on legitimate rips of an eroge or CG set or something.

All I can tell you is that Tenboro said that 3d goes in misc. We've just gone with that. This was a couple of years ago when there really wasn't any japanese 3d material.

So the policy is made more or less with consideration to western 3D porn but not so much Japanese works that have become more common since then.

As unlikely as it is, I guess I'd like to ask for a reconsideration on the policy as it applies to legitimate doujin soft and other Japanese stuff taking into account how the situation has changed over time. I have a bit of a backlog of such works to go through and upload but it's a little discouraging knowing it's just going to be swept under the rug, so to speak.
