So, I kind of woke up when I saw my name in this thread the other day... I'm not really part of the EHCove itself, but I've roamed the Cove of Translators for some time now and I've worked with some people that belong to it, even translated a few things that were released by the Cove back in the day when I was an active bounty hunter (or maybe I should have said "back in the days when I was still active", period). Anyway, this has nothing to do with what I wrote above (I think I'm just trying to show that I have some kind of legitimacy to discuss the organization of the EHCove, even though I'm aware such a thing is really needed to debate anyway), but I have a few suggestions to make about how I think the EHCove could / should operate. First, while it's obvious that the bounty system does not define the EHCove, because of all the translation-for-editing deals and such, I think that a crucial part of how the Cove operates is that the translation and editing have been done "on e-hentai", i.e., by a translator and an editor that are (more or less) active in the Cove of Translators or through the bounty system. Maybe I'm wrong, though. But it would rule out things like this (a script by Wrathkal (an LWB member) that was made public by LWB and that Dragonemperor edited), which I'm not sure should qualify as an EHCove release (at first I thought it shouldn't, but why not). Second, let me digress a little bit about how we do QC at LWB. A translator translates, an editor edits (yeah, I know, that's very original), and then comes QC. Usually, the work is not released until the translator, editor, and two QCers (they can be anyone, but ideally a translator and an editor, or dedicated QCers) are satisfied with the work. I'm not saying the EHCove should do exactly the same, but I think doing something similar could be a good way to ensure a consistent quality in the releases. From what I read in the forums, it seems to me that most of the recent EHCove releases went through a pretty thorough QC process (though I must say I didn't follow any of these in details), which I think is great. However, I can understand that people may not want to see their scripts or edits posted publicly, in which case works could be more difficult to QC (maybe this could be done through PM or outside e-hentai, but that sounds quite cumbersome). Anyway, what I mean is I think a release should be QCed (just like some of you do on the forums, but maybe somewhere else or in some other way if you don't want to make your scripts / edits public) to be accepted as an EHCove release.

This might be helpful, but when I was doing some editing work for that Rentai! site, they used google drive, which was shared with a few select people. So taking that idea, Translator, Editor, QC-A, QC-B and whoever else can privately exchange notes and whatnot until release time.

I agree with the described process, through I think most EHCOVE releases go through it. Certainly all releases organized by me do so, thanks to our new proorfreaders (BakaStratos and meo_paow, whom I want to thank). If there are any works out there that people think need further quality revisions, please let us know. I think some other posters may not be aware of our recent improvements in proofreaders availability, through perhaps they have alternative methods of ensuring similar effects?

QUOTE(Red_Piotrus @ Feb 2 2015, 05:13) Since we didn't get any replies from lasertym and KirbyDances, ; I am going to remove their releases from the new EHCOVE release list I am constructing (they will also be renamed in the galleries). As a reminder: those releaes don't have credits/descriptions mentioning EHCOVE, I have never interacted with the uploaders, they have not posted here despite two PMs, and thus I am concluding they've just thought (for a while) that anyone can use the EHCOVE tag if they feel like it (which is not the case).
I assume new releases by Mikol will have a credit page that mentions EHCOVE, so we are cool on that.
i will try and get editors to make credit page

QUOTE(mikol @ Jan 29 2015, 19:18) yes please
Ok, do you have a specific pic you want on your credit page. @Red_Piotrus: QUOTE(Shinko.Aelith @ Jan 28 2015, 17:24) Simple question : can someone upload an EHCove gallery if he's not an EHCove member ? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif) I've about seven confirmed projects to edit for the next weeks so I'll ask some help to blake81 and to thank him I would like to create reserved bounties for him and give him the right to upload these galleries, so I think it'll be more clear if I put it this way : must I avoid making it an EHCove release even if I, as a sponsor, am an EHCove member and will use the bounty system ? Well, this question is only if he doesn't want to join us (in this case there wouldn't be any problem).

From the perspective that building the community is one of our top goals, if there's a proper credit page, and one of our members was involved in TLing or editing, I'd say, yes. In fact, a bounty sponsor can become an EHCOVE member - this is, after all, my position here, as the only "creative" part of the process I take in occasionally is proofreading (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Of course, I am open to other views, but as for me, that's where I stand currently.

Seeing as mikol specializes in gender bender, I'd suggest basing his credit page around something thematic. That, or Rukia from Bleach, which I know he likes, too.
Just a suggestion, though.

Okay, tried a special design with your Code Geass gender bender releases. How is it ? (don't worry, I'll add "Translator","Editor",... after if you like this design)

It's fine, but I wouldn't attach it to any releases that have a more "happy" theme.

Scary font? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Maybe a bit more color would lighten it up. Like your own credit page, Shinko, with its whites and pinks, creates a rather light impression from the start. Now, for all I know, mikol may prefer the darker theme, so... -- In other news, I have finished updating our releases thread. Yeah, I know it's already not up to date, I'll fix it eventually. Now, I hope nobody thinks I am trying to promote my own releases. Everyone is entitled to a full entry for their projects (with the thumb and all that), but I just don't have the time to gather the data for the ~150 other releases. So, as I've noted there, if you want your releases there to be pretty, gimme the code and I'll paste it in. This post has been edited by Red_Piotrus: Feb 25 2015, 09:07

And approved (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Chung2795 has worked on several projects for me in the past few months, and I am glad to welcome another translator on board!
