Awesome presentation, I had no idea you have this much traffic. And kudos to being able to do it yourself. I bow to you, sir Tenboro.
Do you have a median/mean value on H@H stream rates and cache sizes? I'd be very interested in knowing what most people contribute. I know most of the contribution is probably in the IOOPS and not in bandwidth, but how much does H@H contribute to the site?

Out of curosity, what OS do you have these servers running? Is it a flavor or Linux or one the BSDs, or maybe something more exotic?

Nice. I'd always wondered about the scale of this site.
20 boxes for $56k/year sounds like a lot until I remembered it's all enterprise hardware, and then $56k sounds cheap.

This is so complex. Now I feel bad using my right hand in front of such an awesome system.

As my first post and after reading the forum rules / stickies (of course), I wanted to say Tenboro is a god among man. I regret not joining sooner.
My hats off to you (and those behind the scenes) for making it all happen. Such passion! Internet is serious business.

QUOTE(-Enforcer- @ Sep 29 2011, 19:45) See Ten, I told ya folks were interested (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Now,....send in your donations! This site doesn't run on hopes and dreams! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I tried, I really did. But, the money transfer/payment service this site uses is a complete joke and until another one is found I'm afraid I won't be able to. I already asked to Tenboro about it, and he says that he knows about the problem and is looking for another service. Hopefully another option is found before too long!

Ten years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs. Now, we have no Hope, no Cash, and no Jobs.

LOL, that is awesome, I beg you kind sir to allow me to quote it again (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Tenb: Wow, nice rigs, bit surprised by how much it cost to maintain it though!!! Hey Tenboro, did traffic suddenly increase or something? About a week ago, the load modifier was at -25 (had been for some time, ever since the last round of updates and upgrades) and then in the course of a day or two went to +15-ish. Now it hovers around no modifier, give or take a few points. Is this the result of actual traffic or from stuff you've been tweaking?

That's a lot of traffic. The modifier was at +15 last night (at 0 the night before) when I did my gallery trawl.
