Impressive. When the website first started out, did you expect it to grow to the size that it has today? When a new doujin comes out, this is the website where it first becomes available. I've often wondered what is it that attracts people from all over the world to first come and post their images onto the galleries on this site and not other websites.

Between ads, donations and Adopt-a-Server, we're doing pretty good. Not to the point where I'm considering quitting my day job - nor was the site ever set up as a money making scheme - but we do cover the running costs and have enough left over to get new servers and supporting hardware when necessary.

(And if we didn't, the site would be slow as ass and no one would visit in the first place.)

Thanks for the description, that was interesting. I understood most of the relationship between servers except for the forum: why is it connected as a requester to the HV and the web cluster ?

It's not a strong relationship, but both the PWC and HV do read some data from the forum.

Also, there are more In traffic than Out traffic in most of the bandwidth graphs. Shouldn't it be the opposite ?

To the point where it is today? No, not really. I suppose at least one of the reasons people do post stuff here is that it's one of the few sites that properly credit people for doing so, in a (mostly) fair and (mostly) balanced way.

EH has certainly came a long way if this is the case now. I remember reading some of your older posts saying the site was barely cutting it in terms of server costs.

This reminds me of a question I've had for a while but felt was too inappropriate to ask. Does any of your co-workers/friends know that you're the admin/creator of one of the most comprehensive, if not the most comprehensive hentai site on the interwebs? Or do you prefer to, like many others, keep your internet persona hidden from your day-to-day life? I realize this question is a tad too personal hence I haven't asked it until now, so feel free to not answer it if you're uncomfortable with it.
