Am I the only one hoping that the end result is altered in some magnificently strange fashion? I'm talking "Applejack is a stallion" or "Twilight explicitly calls Celestia 'mom'" level twisting. Not for any real reason, mind - it just seems that if one of the translations is going to go hilariously off the rails like that, it'll be the Japanese one.

Oh, no, you don't need to watch the whole series to understand what we were talking about.
You need to watch most of the series, plus two abridged series, plus at least a few episodes of a fan animated (sort of) fan fiction parody series, which serves as an ancillary series to one of the previously mentioned abridged series, to understand what we were talking about.

Oh, and one more thing...Cupcakes. You HAVE to read Cupcakes. Please, let's be clear that I'm not RECOMMENDING that you read Cupcakes. In all honesty, you should probably endeavor to avoid it at all costs. But...its one of those things that you will, eventually, hear about, and its best to get it out of the way early.
