QUOTE(MSimm1 @ Feb 16 2013, 03:35) TV Guide clip for Episode 13 Season Finale of MLP with the cutie marks all askew (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Makes me wonder: Did the change of cutie marks turn out to be the sole motivation to change professions; or did the incident actually affect the performance of their original jobs?

It would be my guess, that the only reason is a setup for a new story line for Twilight to set things right again (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) The writers of MLP must be running out of ideas (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Feb 16 2013, 07:30) [ twitter.com] https://twitter.com/MMeghanMcCarthy/status/...576012804366336That's such a troll... So how long until season 4? Eight freaking months? Well, I'd been thinking on that a little bit too. Even if the change to alicorn Twilight is fantastic, it's really the impact of her existence on the show that means something. So it's not possible to really tell if the change is good or bad until after a couple of new episodes with her in them. On another note, the S4 premier could have her becoming not a princess, so that's something I can hold hope for.

I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. I'm not one of the bronies that got all autistic-fit over the whole Twilight as an Alicorn thing, but jeezuz was that delivery of the story the laziest fucking way to do it, which is probably what I should have expected from Mccarthy running the story editing. I know that the finales tend to have more singing than normal but there was like NO STORY to this at all. I can sum the plot in 4 lines... Spoiler text - Highlight to read... Celestia wants spell completed for no reason. Twilight uses spell and switches cutie marks accidently. Everyone sings what's going on about 3 times each. Twilight finishes spell that somehow shoots her to the princess creation dimension.
So what we REALLY learned was Star Swirl the Bearded just wanted to be a princess apparently but never quite got the spell right. Great job, McCarthy & team. I'll just stick to watching the S1 & S2 episodes and leave the rest behind. It's too bad it went south so quickly (most of S3 has been bad IMO, just really lazy stereotypes of each character being used), but unless they pull a switch like the Walking Dead did going from S2 to S3, I'm out.

Well.. that wasn't so bad, right? A little cheesy.. a few songs too many, but otherwise acceptable. And I always considered it a possibility that she'd turn into one eventually so the fact she did did not surprise or dissapoint me in the slightest. I agree that it was quite forced though.

Well that was just random, even if we knew it was coming. If they'd build up to this over the season, this finale would have been nice, but now it's meh. I guess i'm not a little girl?
I did like the first half, it was cute and i liked the songs.
Also twi should just have cast that spell again to fix it. Or maybe a couple of times. Not much more than 120 times for sure ^^

Dunno about you fellas but I liked the episode, after all the whole trial thing was meant for Twilight to become an alicorn. P.S: Also RD into a cauldron for dinner; that was priceless :] This post has been edited by BrainSucks: Feb 16 2013, 20:23

First, as an actually autistic person I take offense to you and the rest of the internet adopting that phrase now that retarded is apparently taboo. Second, personally the reason I don't like alicorn twilight is that I can't do the whole "rewatch old episodes" thing. As soon as I've seen it, it may as well be dead. And if I forget it, I'll remember the whole episode in the first five minutes of rewatching. So it totals up to being I just can't watch the show any more. Which I'm sure is what Hasbro is going for. They're purposefully trying to cut out the older demographic of MLP, a stupid maneuver to be sure, but one they're making.

It felt...rushed. Tremendously rushed. It really needed to be a two-parter, I think, so everything coul be spread out more, the issues could have been more developed, etc. Make the first episode deal with the changed destiny bit, but develop it more. Not that I'm terribly fond of them, but bring the Crusaders into it; it would actually be interesting this time, seeing how they would have reacted to their sisters (and idol) suddenly being completely different and, additionally, begging Twilight to try to use the magic to give them Cutie marks, even if it mean stealing someone else's. Also, they squandered the oppurtunity to give Fluttershy fourth wall breaking powers, but that's neither here nor there.
Second episode, that could have started after the destiny thing was handled, and stretched out Celestia's expository dialogue; maybe even gone into a bit of a flashback of her and Luna's own ascensions, explained what the hell is up with Cadence, and so on. Let Luna talk a bit. Maybe Twilight's parents could have actually, you know, spoken at some point. Explain what this all means in the long run.
As it was...not rubbish, I didn't think, but yeah, season 3 wasn't the best effort. Would have been nice if it'd been a full 26 episodes, or, failing that, maybe we didn't need two Applejack episodes, and one of them could have been sacrificed to make this atwo-parter and give everything the time it deserved.
Though, something that did stick out...why was Rarity trying to manage the weather? Yeah, yeah, that's Rainbow's job, and everyone else switched jobs...but it isn't Rainbow's destiny. Rainbow got hers after she did the Rainboom, and was more about speed and everything, so shouldn't Rarity have been...I don't know, running around like a lunatic or something?
And yay, Derpy's back. Really, the whole parade felt like a bit of a shout out, between Derpy, bouncing Lyra (right next to Bon Bon, no less), the Doctor (relatively close to Dinky and, presumably Derpy) and all the rest of it.
Alright, done talking now.

I didn't notice this while watching, but you've got a point. I guess they just merged flying and weather control into a single skill.

And Applejack could've been out searching for gems to use in her new dresses. 'Cause isn't that related to Rarity's special skills? But who need the canon when adding into the canon? QUOTE(BrainSucks @ Feb 17 2013, 04:02) That took me a while to find. It's like playing "Where's Waldo".

Eh. I thought the episode was pretty solid. Then again, I was ok with adorkable purple unicorn with wings from the start.
