She was supposed to be, but the folks at DHX being pretty cool dudes decided to run with it. Maybe Crystal Ponies is what Cadance is princess of.

It's a fair bet that she's somehow related to the Crystal Kingdom they mention.

And hey, maybe that'll finally resolve the conflict between Cadance's existence and Faust's statement that Celestia is effectively the queen of Equestria and that she and Luna has no living blood relatives. Or something to that effect.

But, yes, I will be quite livid if there are no Seaponies in this upcoming season. I mean, come on, they're helpful as can be ponies, sending out an SOS.
