QUOTE(radixius sparkle @ Nov 5 2011, 16:15) The thing before the last thing I thought: I'll give Seikon no Qwaser a shot, I guess. I like boobs, or whatever.
The last thing I thought: Why did I give Seikon no Qwaser a shot? I guess I'll keep watching because I like boobs, or whatever.
There are some shows, no matter how much I like boobs, I can't stand to keep watching.

Re-watching One Piece. Seems somehow better than I had thought before. There are certain moments at which a character's motivation and psychology seem clear and reasonable, true to life. I really do think the author must have intended it even though many of these realizations on my part are not directly spelled out in either manga or anime.
For example, Kurahadol's character changed from mere villain to something more complex. A man cannot pretend without some elements of personality creeping in which have to be surpressed

Some series have a great premise, like "Jesus kicks everyone's ass with the power of heavy metal and pedophilia"(Needless), but then turn out to be underwhelming. That is not the case with Ben-to.

So I'm watching the Martian Successor Nadesico movie and I've encountered something I see very often in anime that is wrong. Akito was shooting a revolver at some people, and when he had fired all the bullets he opened the chamber and tilted the revolver back at a 45ish degree angle. All the expended brass slid right out, effortlessly. Live rounds will slide out due to gravity but once they've been fired the casings stick to the chamber for some reason or another thus the reason why most revolvers have a release button because gravity alone will not pull expended shells, even if you raise the revolver to a full vertical and shake it up and down (I've tested this before). I've seen it in Trigun too, and I'm sure in other animes that I can't remember right now.
Now, it COULD just be that all the revolvers I'VE fired were like that, and they are limited to Ruger and Smith & Wesson models, but I imagine it works the same way as with some pistols and rifles... A completely expended mag/ammo source doesn't hold enough weight to be pulled out by gravity by simply pushing the eject button. I've encountered a few pistols that do actually force the mag out quite nicely even when its completely empty (the entire Glock and Kimber series of guns do this very well) but many other weapons require a little bit of force. Even my M16 needed a slight pull on an empty mag to pull it out.
That's what my last thought I had concerning anime; now back to the movie.

It makes perfect sense to me actually. The casings won't slide out because they've been expanded by the heat and pressure of the firing. (Thinking to myself) This gives me an idea for weighted clips and bullets or perhaps a one touch ejection assist. This way, you can eject spent mags with one hand and reach for a fresh one with the other hand at the same time. Back on topic though. I remember one scene in Trigun(Ep.5) where Vash opens his revolver with the barrel and cylinder pointing down. The spent cases all fly straight up, against gravity, and the round he hadn't fired yet stayed in the cylinder. Either this is typical Anime/Hollywood physics or Vash's gun uses some sort of bullet ejection.

Actually, the brass doesn't expand, or else I would have to resize my brass for manual reloading of the casing... Have you ever hand loaded rounds? I have some spent casings from my .357 magnum and i can compare them side by side to a fired and unfired case (I'll just pull the bullet out with pliers from the unfired case), you'll see the size is the same. The issue still remains gravity (more than likely). A 'clip' is a thin strip of metal that holds anywhere between 5 to 10 rounds ready for quick loading into a magazine. It's a very common misunderstanding of the term 'clip' in popular culture. Whether its a pistol or rifle, the correct word for the case that holds ammunition is a magazine or 'mag' for short. On the issue of adding weight to mags, there actually are some companies that sell mags that are bottom heavy for easier ejection, and some with a thick grip to easily pull the magazine out, but the idea of adding a better ejection system to an assault rifle is pretty good. Sometimes I had to struggle to pull out an expended mag from an M16, though that was also partly due to the fact that after you fire a couple hundred rounds through the thing there is so much carbon building up all over the weapon from the firing and may get magazines stuck. Adding weight to the rounds themselves would probably be impossible, plus no one wants to carry a heavier load than they already have to. I was trekking around with about 120 pounds of gear on my body at any time during a patrol, you expect me to add some more weight to each individual round? When I'm already carrying close to 800 rounds? You out yo mind boy! On the issue of Vash; he used an older style top-break revolver, where the weapon breaks down like certain single load shotguns. The scenes where the brass flies out is just an anime thing, unless the weapon itself had an unmentioned assisted ejection system... I'm just going to go with anime physics lol. Newer models are mostly side-break where the cylinder pops out to the left. Also something special about Vash's revolver, the barrel was placed on the six o' clock position, feeding the bottom round of the cylinder into the barrel to be fired. There was ONE real life weapon made like that, from the mid 1900s I believe...

I gotta say, I am pleasantly surprised at Gurren Lagann. It was on a long list of mecha animes to watch and since I have some time off I am trying to watch whatever mecha anime I can. The show is funny, the fight scenes are drawn well, and the characters are interesting. Plus, Yoko is one sexy ass bitch I wouldn't mind fapping to. *goes to the galleries to find the thousands of h-manga on yoko*

Kiyal was my favorite until Nia came in. But that haircut seriously ruined her, so I'm jumping back into the Nia camp (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Dual-wielding swords in modern Japan is out of style. When you are royalty, you do it with chainsaws.
