Why do so many western people only care about the anime of things where a novel or manga was the original version, which is often more complete (e.g., not dropped less than halfway through) and of higher (subjective) quality?

Also, the most popular series in the east are usually not the same as the ones that get huge here (in America at least).

One of my Vietnamese friends (also a weeb) says that outside of the east, France is probably the closest to being an east asian country (in terms of the tastes of their weebs). I'm inclined to believe him.

Anime can be watched with the full work/meaning of japanese kept, and there are just subtitles added over it to help.
Manga once translated can tremendously destroy the meaning, whether it's by mistake, lack of culture, wrong choices, or excessive adaption over mere translation...but you may still use the pictures to recover some of the original meaning, once in a while.
Novels turn into garbage if they ever get translated...sorry won't even try to mitigate here, it's so disastrous that we can just round the damage to 100%.

That would basically be the idea, I have no idea if there would be a way to fix that.

Could not find a better quality version of an anime I wanted to rewatch done, but I managed to get raws and (horrible (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ) subtitles separately, and resync them (though I may have to redo it at each episode).
Not something I would feel doing for any anime.

Kobayashi Maid Dragon finally get confirmed its second season (it originally announced way before, but some idiot decided the Kyoani building have too little fire and soaked gasoline on it and burning them to oblivion) not cancelled by Kyoani.

And there's a whole maid dragon archetype in Yu-Gi-Oh based on the series.
