Maybe she didn't give a shit. She got the responsibility and didn't care for it at all, the kid went missing, weight off her shoulders, she can do what she wants again. Some people are vainglorious and stupid, even if it comes to their kin. Idiots can't help but do idiotic things, but it doesn't mean they murdered anybody. I don't give a shit about a lot of people, be they friends, family or no one in particular, but it doesn't mean I'm going around stabbing people.
A child went missing and people wanted answers. They went with the easy answer and were proven wrong. Now they're pissed because there's not another solution in sight, there wasn't resolution for this poor little killed child, and that enrages people about as much as a dude making dogs fight.

As far as I see it, Casey could just be a pathological liar (likely stemming from the stress of motherhood - this would explain the lack of substantial evidence regarding past behaviour, as in this case, she'd have none to begin with).
That being said, I don't believe for a minute she is innocent (mind you, I have no exposure to media - all I read of this case were detective reports and trial reports).
It's like Holmes' maxim: "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." In my honest opinion, it's impossible the father did it. It's impossible any of the family members (other than the mother) did it, really. What we're left with is some deviant stranger who kidnapped the daughter from her (uncaring) mother's hands, or the mother herself. And given the mother's allegations (or lack thereof), the fact that she'd have more of an opportunity than a random deviant, and the plethora of (bad) lies, it seems more likely she did it than a random deviant.
Though what gets me is the means and motive: I can't ascertain why the mother would go this far with both the lies and the crime itself (stress cannot begin to explain it), nor can I figure out what means she used to do it.

My best guess is she done screwed up and then tried to lie her way out of it. She was an unfit mother to begin with and had the mindset of an adolescent. What do adolescents do when they fuck up? Try to cover it up and hope it goes away. Her lies just kept growing and got blown out of proportion, which would actually add more stress to your stress theory. She's guilty of something (well, several things), but not necessarily first degree murder.

Desperate lies are often different from what she used. The amount of fabrication she produced was incredulously large for the biggest pathological liar. I'd be more likely to believe what she had said if she had used mythical beings for perpetrators rather than what she produced. The content of the lies, in fact, are not what concerns me. What does concern me is the direction of the lies. Allow me to explain: She could easily lie and say that the daughter disappeared, or was kidnapped by a stranger. Heck, she could try to lie to explain why she was "partying." What she did, however, was lie about a nanny that was supposedly close to her extremely often, and about her job in universal. the problem here is twofold: 1. The lies are much too elaborate for anything - she could have added dragons to the lie and it would not add to the level of ridiculous. 2. They are in many points unrelated to the trouble; The addition of the job or about 200 other things had nothing to do with the case and she kept sprinkling them there. I'm aware that details add to the realism, but this is ridiculous. As far as I see it, she's criminally insane, regardless of the murder, and should be put in a Sanitarium, where she can harm no other, and will be treated. I do however think she did murder, and it wasn't neglect or anything of the kind. She's too young, is out of the job, has no reliable family to speak of: I think she may have gone off the rocker and killed the daughter when she did something the mother deemed annoying (such as complain when the mother didn't feed her). Whoever invented air conditioners,
thank you
thank you
thank you.
But can someone please make them slimmer, like they did with monitors and televisions?

QUOTE(Tenseigamoon @ Jul 5 2011, 22:51) Whoever invented air conditioners,
"The concept of air conditioning is known to have been applied in Ancient Rome, where aqueduct water was circulated through the walls of certain houses to cool them. Similar techniques in medieval Persia involved the use of cisterns and wind towers to cool buildings during the hot season. Modern air conditioning emerged from advances in chemistry during the 19th century, and the first large-scale electrical air conditioning was invented and used in 1902 by Willis Haviland Carrier." Take that as you will.

The closest thing are those Japanese-style wall units, but they still need an outlet for draining condensate.

In a distant future, you'll be able to press a button and set the desired temperature/humidity levels.
A very distant future, most likely.

A top end HVAC system can already do that.

A long story.
I went on this wild goose chase trying to look for a certain kind of chocolate that my mom had mentioned she wanted for her birthday. Even though I had already gotten her some gifts, I thought chocolate was doable, sure, why not?
Now I know to get this woman exactly what she asks for because she's so damn picky about shit like that so I searched online to see where they carried it before I even attempted to leave and then drove to the store, thinking this was going to be a quick trip. It was so fucking hot out and I thought I was going to drop dead as I walked across the parking lot in the billion degree heat rising up from the asphalt, but I carried on. It was the kind of day where no one should've been outdoors.
To my disappointment, they had the brand but not the particular kind she wanted so I drove all over hell and checked three other stores hoping they might have it, all the while sweating and feeling like I had to take a shit. I had pooped before I left but I didn't really finish the job and I hate public restrooms so I held it in.
Anyway, after who knows how long of driving around searching for this fucking chocolate, I came home, exhausted, drenched in sweat despite having AC in my car and being in the air conditioned stores, went to my room, cranked my AC, peeled off my clothes, cursed the heat, God, and everything else because I did all of that for nothing.
The next time I talked to my mother and broke the news to her that she wasn't going to get the particular kind of chocolate she wanted for her birthday, she went "Huh?"
She didn't even know what the hell I was talking about!

This. Though, in the distant future, it's possible that entire cities will be enclosed, air-purified, UV-protected and temperature-controlled.

Sign me up for dome city. Fuck nature. Although in the distance future, we'll probably be underwater, so dome cities are kinda a necessity. Either that or floating sky fortress cities. OUTRAGEOUS!
