You can also cut the stainless steel spoon with a stainless steel knife, and then eat the knife.

QUOTE(Mika Kurogane @ Apr 7 2012, 13:12) Here is how it works in France : - psychologists go through 5 years of university studies ; - psychiatrists (aka shrinks) go through 10 years of university studies ; - psychoanalysts don't require any kind of diploma ; - psychotherapists don't require any kind of diploma either, but since 2003, they can only have their patients redirected to them upon a psychiatrist and/or psychologist's decision. Which one should I go to, when I want to find out why 1) I find it hard to trust people, and 2) how to trust people whom I rationally but not emotionally find completely trustworthy, without fear of being put into a psychiatric hospital indefinitely for being sincere? I personally found psychologists (choice 1) to be more receptive. They also won't feed you with drugs, but will rather test you and ask questions about yourself.
The catch is psychologists work with psychiatrists, so you might still end up in a ward if your condition is bad enough. Judging by your posts, you have little to fear and should try option 1. Even talking/writing to acquaintances, fairly receptive people from the Internet or relatives can help - of course, if you can't do that, then it gets slightly harder.
My five-week hospital break made me much more social and aware of myself but also tripled my cynical and sarcastic traits. I guess it basically enhanced all of my social stats including the bad ones. Remember when you sent me a PM about my galleries being expunged ? I never took the time to answer, but acknowledged your post and deleted them as soon as I read it. I've never sent a single PM except for HV purposes before I got out of hospital. Now it's like I'm sending two or three a day of them about philosophy and stuff.
Finding it hard to trust people usually happens when you get deceived on a regular basis from personal experience, which is rather common. Gaining one's trust is tough when one has gone through a lot of psychological pain.
