Dear Rest of the world,
Could you please stop always calling Americans fat? Yes, we do have the hugely obese types and it's certainly their fault for being that way, but seriously guys, the odds are stacked against us. I'll grant you that we're pretty lazy when it comes to exercise and that's certainly not in our favor, but eating right is actually pretty damn hard for people on a strict budget. Eating crap is cheap while trying to buy fresh fruits and vegetables or make nutritious meals is often just to much of a burden to handle when the money isn't phat. I'm actually really trying to get this whole healthy thing going but man it is no friend of the wallet.
Sincerely,
An American that's actually trying
So, it's hard not to get fat on cheap food? My most effective diet was always 'eat half of what you were eating before the diet', and I think it should work in this case as well. Additionally, exercise makes one burn through lots of substances considered harmful when they accumulate in one's body.
I understand eating more as a way to keep in good mood and alleviate stress by giving oneself food rewards though.
