Sometimes I look at one of my scribbled notes and wonder what I was trying to write. Fortunately, most of my work is done on computers and most of my handwritten work are design documents and a math equations. oshi- is that a 3 or a 5?

There is clearly a correlation between poor handwriting and surperior intellect. :3

That makes me feel slightly better if facts fall so conveniently in place for me. Though I already knew my IQ was high so I might just be adding more data to this statistic.

The standard retirement age should be raised to at least 70, if you ask me. Especially with all the baby-boomers retiring around now. It's not good timing.

There is a correlation between poor handwriting and everyone in first-world countries having the need to write by hand slowly dissolve. If we could only communicate with handwritten letters, we'd probably find the time to get better at it.

Yes, please!
Anybody who can scream "GIDAFHMAHLAWN" can still do something productive besides farting into a chair and costing money.

In germany it's even worse. The current young people have to pay the retirement for the current old people.

Nowadays it's almost impossible to comfortably retire and still get by. I see old bitties and coots working part time jobs just so they can have affordable health insurance.

Only the rich have comfortable retirement funds here since it's based on average wage and doesn't take multiple jobs into account. My 68-year old hospital roommate was getting roughly $300 a month after 40 years of work.

Yeah, that's called capitalism.

Hey now, the French did take the brunt of the attacks in both world wars while the rest of the allies sat safely behind France.

Why do you think I am still here ? For the chicks ?

I wouldn't have taken it as offense anyways, we're cool. Well, you're the Frenchie (apparently, I never knew that) so I'll trust your call on that. Its just that I often hear Americans chanting different retarded rhetoric, and one such rhetoric is that the French are cowards and that we (the Americans) always bail your asses out of problems but they always overlook the pivotal help from the French during the American revolution against Britain. Not to mention that you guys have been attacked in your own homeland time and time again, by concentrated enemy forces, whereas the only time we had a sizable invasion in the U.S. was during the revolution itself (I don't count the Pearl Harbor incident as an actual invasion because they attacked islands of the US in the middle of the pacific ocean and not the mainland itself). Otherwise the Americans don't really know of what its like to be invaded and they definitely don't see the circumstances around wars, even their own, so they find some erroneous phrase and stick to it.

Say, what does the general French public think about the Foreign Legion?

EDIT: And actually, now that I remember, during WWII it was the Ruskies that took the brunt of the German eastern offensive, sustaining the highest casualties of the allies, so I was wrong with what I said earlier. Still, it holds true that France was the poor sucker that had to take a blitzkrieg style homeland invasion that gave the rest of the allies some time and some idea of how to counter the Germans.

I really don't know much about Foreign Legion (that's another thing to add to the seemingly endless list).

According to Wikipedia and Google, French people are ranked 3rd in terms of troops (50k), way behind Germans with 210k, and mostly worry about losing social links with their relatives for 5 years if they get recruited.

They don't really seem to worry about what will happen to their asses if they suddenly get called in for serious business, though.

I was just curious. The French Foreign Legion may end up becoming my last resort if I somehow piss off enough of the American authorities. I've already been blacklisted on flights and have to pass through extra security measures if I want to go anywhere. If I end up becoming a pariah in this country I may just go over to yours for a few years...

I'm sad to hear that. What you have done to end up in such a situation is none of my business so I won't ask, but there are alternatives to the Foreign Legion. Well, I guess you have your reasons. People here are lazy bums (including myself) and they only seem to go there as a last resort. I have met a lot of very kind people during my hospital break (and not just the medical staff), so that made me feel better about society in general. I still believe a lot of Frenchies are hopeless assholes, but don't worry too much about that.

I recall a comic strip with a Foreign Legion hut right next to a famous editor's building, an artist asking what it was doing in such a place and being told that was because a lot of them ended up going there after their projects were rejected.

Fuck, I'd have killed myself ages ago if I had no one left to protect and live for.

didn't think it would be so serious here. Mood feels kind of thick.

Anyway. Just thought I would let people know that you can cook eggs in a toaster oven. I make an imprint in the bread with my hand so it doesn't spill over. They still come out good but they do take longer to cook.

On the bright side, thats less dishes and you get toast at the same time. God I love my eggs. Over easy, poached, scrambled, omelette style, green eggs and ham, eggs and hash (corned beef that is), sunny side up is even okay still. I throw an egg or 2 in chili and soup too for shits and giggles. Especially if I want to hog up all the food. (people think its gross but thats just more for me).
