Ah-ha, I kept feeling earthquake. I knew one was coming and it happened down in Mexico. I sensed the earth shifting a couple of weeks ago. It's weird but when I feel it, it doesn't happen and then when I forget about it, it happens.

I've saved a few of these links for reading later. I'll take a closer look when I'm in a more neutral mindset. At a quick skim so far, though, several of these arguments really fail to grasp some simple realities. It's a nice theory to say "You can't create anything, you can only discover it" or "How can you claim credit for creating something when all that matter is already there to begin with?", but...

But food and shelter still cost money, so people sometimes "create" things in the hopes of selling them for money, and when people then acquire those things without paying for them, it makes the "creator" sad, and maybe even quit "creating" because they need to find a job that will allow them to put food on the table. Does copyright law need reform, to keep it from victimizing people and monopolizing creativity? Yes, but people also need to eat.

Seriously, that's the last thing I'll say on this. The discussion's been had before, and it was completely fruitless for everyone involved the last time. I doubt it'd be different now.

I just hope that shit doesn't start rumbling up the coast toward us. I've had enough of these mega quakes. Although I have the feeling it will.

I've only experienced one earthquake in my life, and technically that's a lie because I didn't notice it at all until somebody pointed out that things were kind of shaking a little.

I had just sat down on the toilet one time getting ready to take a dump when one happened. As soon as I felt the ground shake, I jumped up and pulled on my pants so fast. That was after we had that huge Easter quake happen a couple of years ago and we were having a lot of aftershocks.

I really hope I'm never in the shower when an earthquake happens. That would suck being covered in soap all naked and wet and have the entire bathroom shake and sway and you have nowhere to run.

Well, posting it in Spamhaus probably won't get me an answer, but how can I edit/delete or get someone to edit/delete a post I made on this forum that is over 3 days old? I want to replace my April Banner Contest Submission with a new one but the old one's too old for me to edit. TT.TT

I get it. But it seems you're missing the bigger picture. Making it easier for these people to get money to create and eat now will result in making it harder for future creators to keep the money without it being sued away by lawyers whose only specialization and only source of income is the law created for the purpose you described. In fact, we passed that point, and we have millions of creators feeling entitled to things they created decades ago, and thousands of lawyers working hard to make it easier to suck money off the creative people already. And you don't see the difference, and the problem because it's hard to see all the works that were never created, never even thought about, because of this law.

It's a bit like social security in many countries. The idea was, when it was introduced a 100 years ago, that most people can't save money for their old age well. So they are persuaded to deposit some money with the state, and the state was supposed to manage that money responsibly, and to give the same money back to people in their old age. But the governments around the world spent all that money on other things, and now we're stuck in the situation where young people are forced to give money to the government, but the government can't manage it and make a profit on it and give back more, because it has to give it to old people immediately, because politicians long dead have wasted the old people's money away. It's a dead end, and it will someday lead to some kind of revolution or at least hard times.

And it's the same with copyright. With lawyers getting more efficient and lobbying for extending copyright and limiting fair use continually, it will eventually come to people having to pay microtransactions on every pun they make in everyday's speech, unless the thing is reverted or at least stopped. We are having so many social mechanisms clogged down with copyright bullshit that the bright idea of getting a few anonymous creators to make money and keep creating is just not balancing it.

Worst earthquake I've ever been in was when we had a false alarm at Pohakuloa when one of the two volcanoes we were nestled in between rumbled. People on the top bunks literally got thrown off. It was interesting because it was the night we got back from our only two days of liberty in a month long training exercise and most people just thought 'shit, I drank waaaay too much last night' but I was sober (being only 19 at the time and charged to take care of my team) and I was genuinely freaked the fuck out. I thought Japan was attacking again or some crazy shit.

The fiercest earthquake that I ever experienced was when I was stuck in a water slide and farted.

It's good to be out of hospital until you see the bill. 5 weeks of hospitalization : roughly $2000 (two Catgirls) after SS+mutual insurance kicked in.

I wish I could have kept that lower left lung lobe and the pleural fluid drainage unit as trophies, at the very least. Might have to translate a lot of crap (or nibble on a lot of manly poles) to cover the costs.

You can't edit an older post? Is that for non Gold Star people? I thought Admin got rid of that. Just make a post with the new banner and say this is the banner I want to submit and not the one in post # whatever-whatever. I don't see why they wouldn't accept it. If it's a completely different banner with different characters, just save it for next month's contest.

I actually meant congratulating the March contest winners. I am too lazy to even give it a try and my artistic skills are pretty much zero. I'd rather try and make people feel good about earning another virtual reward for their hard work.

Hopefully, it will help science. I'm willing to donate all of my body parts to science anyway, so why not ? They already have three of them so far. They had better make good use of that !

And more pulmonologists will be able to diagnose that shit much earlier, since a simple radiography (followed by an iodine injection scan to confirm the arterial chaos) are enough to tell the difference between emphysema and a much more serious BPS. The CP - chief pulmonologist - was able to tell it from the radiography alone, which he explained by telling me he had seen a grand total of five in his whole 40-year career, except all of them were kids below 10 with much less damaged lungs. The disconnected lung lobe only grows worse as you get older, and it's both useless and dangerous since it makes you much more prone to pulmonary infections.

If they don't know what to do with the shit, well, sophomores can still play with the ruined thing and scare the crap off first-years. :3

In other news, an empty water bottle that was sitting here toppled over and somehow landed in my cereal bowl. Now, how the FUCK did it do that? Of all the places to fall, it had to pick my cereal bowl. It was the top part of the bottle and it touched milk.
