I'm one of those hipster artfags that believes foreign media should remain foreign and localization is almost always stupid and is extremely difficult to do well and even then only works in certain situations.

It fills me with rage and makes me even more infuriated when assholes do it with dubs.
I will steadfastly stand by my thoughts that a localized translation is better than a straight translation. Especially if done well.
Only if done well, imo. There are times when a localization is done so well it makes the original inferior in comparison, but it's hard to name a good undeniable example off the top of my head.
You could argue that sometimes a poor localization makes a product even better (Samurai Pizza Cats?), but in those cases it's hard to claim that it's a 'localized translation' so much as a Rewrite.

Actually, that's a very good example. I've been rewatching that one very recently, matter of fact, which makes me wonder why I didn't consider it. I'm pretty sure the dub is largely considered superior to the subs, something that I've only heard once otherwise (Kojima likes the English dubs of MGS better than the JP).
I haven't watched very much of it in Japanese so I can't say for certain, but the crew of the Bebop don't use honorifics to refer to one another in the subs afaik. It's a twofold reason, I think; given the setting, the show is only in Japanese for the sake of the listening audience (most of Bebop's setting has Chinese elements to it), and on top of that, the Bebop crew are really informal and casual with just about everyone. It's hard to tell without watching it in Japanese whether there are honorifics used at all.

I love it when people try to rationalize their piracy. Of course I pirate things all the time, but I don't have the gall to go out and try to justify it. Piracy is wrong. Sure, it's not as serious as the RIAA say it is, but it's still unfair. If you don't have the money to pay for it, then you can't play it, simple as that.
But some people forget this in our age of easy access to illicitly obtained digital media, and we wind up with this "justification" for playing things that cost money to obtain yet we don't pay for it and play it anyways.
This isn't medicine that you can't afford; it's a porn game you "don't feel like paying for".
So pirate it. Get a download for it. It's okay, many of us will do it. But do everyone a favor and don't let fly your retarded views on why you think it's "right" or any other justifications for it. It's wrong, and it's a dick move to someone who worked hard, so don't insult them further by pretending they deserve to get ripped off.
