This has been a rotten day. The issue with tagging. Had to download a movie for the third time because the second time was done by a different group but used the same unreadable subs as the first time. When the japanese say something in english, you don't put a bad romanji version in your subs, especially when it will be repeated a lot. You don't put ore-tachi in your subs, you put we. There was as much romanji as there was freaking english. The only good subs I saw today were the ones we had for dinner.
Thought I'd play some on Kongregate this afternoon but the site was having problem.
Power went out briefly a couple of times this morning because of a storm, it was enough to tell me to leave the computer off. There's supposed to be another storm tonight so the power will probably go off again.
The world has just hated me today.

That brings up a question I've had for a while. Why the fuck do fansubbers always put honorifics in their subs? Do they have no self-respect? It makes the whole thing look fucking retarded and I hate it :<

Fanatic weeaboos, I guess?
Edit: Just realized that's redundant.

Poor wasps. They weren't doing anything and I had to destroy them in a slow, agonizing fashion for self-preservation. They were just chilling out there, living, just being like they had every right to, and some giant fucker comes in and slaughters a dozen or more. To them, for absolutely no reason.

And I inexplicably empathize with that.
And I feel horrible.
Fuck. Just fuck.
Imagine the bacteriae you kill every time you wash your hands. This toxic environment that suddenly surrounds them, ending their world.
You could also think of the birds that will be deprived of tasty meals if these wasps are no longer buzzing around. And of all the flowers that will lose their chance of being pollinated.
Or perhaps, you might regard the whole business of you dwelling on the roles you happen to play in events, as seen from various points of view that aren't useful for anything as a waste of your time, and feel obliged to avoid such thoughts, as a part of a mission to pursue your own happiness, as everyone else expects of you.

Because it actually has significance. It certainly is out of place when applied to English, but the honorifics are supposed to be an indicator of the relationship between the speakers; they represent the level of respect (or disrespect) that one person has for another, and provide some context for how characters get along.
Because they're such an important part of the language and contain a nuance of language that English doesn't emphasize, I can understand why most fansubbers make sure to include them.

It fills me with rage and makes me even more infuriated when assholes do it with dubs.
I will steadfastly stand by my thoughts that a localized translation is better than a straight translation. Especially if done well.
I'm one of those hipster artfags that believes foreign media should remain foreign and localization is almost always stupid and is extremely difficult to do well and even then only works in certain situations.
