QUOTE(Pseudoshy @ Feb 10 2012, 01:28) I got a compound bow. Tell me, are compound bows tougher on the muscles than longbows? It seems to require a lot more strength, the tension is pretty rough. I used to shoot longbows in summer camp and they were easy to shoot even as a kid, but my compound is rough and it has four strings (well, two looped) instead of just one. Other than that I got a variety of firearms and such. "A longbow has practical advantages compared to a modern recurve or compound bow; it is usually lighter, quicker to prepare for shooting, and shoots more quietly. However, other things being equal, the modern bow will shoot a faster arrow more accurately than the longbow" Interesting... I need to get myself a longbow for easier shooting. My compound tires me out after a little bit, but the velocity and power is quite impressive.
Ive never used a modern bow, so I cant really say, some of the others I've shot with say that the longbow is actually harder (if the longbow is made correctly) on the body but I can handle it fine even with a messed up hand (took awhile to find a posture to shoot from though), so I don't think it should be a problem for you. Aiming might be difficult at first but since you've experience with a compound bow I think you'll adjust quickly enough.

I have an adjustable sight for my compound, so it's really not all that different from firearms... I'm gonna have to learn to aim without sights or any sort of help if I pick up a long bow. I'm pretty dependent on technology and certain modern day aids :-/ Would be cool to learn to aim with a long bow with no sights whatsoever.

Kittens are dying in Meow War III and you're complaining about sleep? Have you no shame?! Ok, I really should get some sleep because I got a (semi) long drive in the morning.

I was about to open a new thread for this, but it seemed so retarded to do so... How is it possible that the fist thread "SOS !" (time-wise) has no replies and 1 views and the second has 1 reply and 0 views? I mean, if you want to reply you should have viewed it first, right?

The forum is weird like that sometimes and it does that even with threads that have a lot of views.

So pretty much my best friend since I've moved here sends me a text today completely distraught because her husband's cousin or something killed himself today. She's absolutely hysterical and was angry and sad all at the same time from what I was reading. Now I'm the type who would talk with a friend until they tired themselves out or do just about anything for them, but that is one subject I dodge like the plague. I am NOT the person to talk to about that at all. So all I could offer was very generic responses and feel bad about it.

Sometimes people just need to be left alone to grieve.

Man, some people flip the fuck out about suicide. I had a good friend blow his brains out with a machinegun burst. Wiped his brain matter, shattered bones, and kept training.

When men describe problems, they look for answers and solutions. When women do, they look for attention and understanding, but rarely solutions. I don't think you should feel bad about it, as it's not obvious any other responses would be better.
