No. Sasha Grey is an example of that not being the case. Maybe not intelligent in the sense of engineering or something, but the ability to go from having 10 dudes spunk on her face to becoming a mainstream actress and even doing charity work, yes.

Hell, you might even consider someone like Joanna Angel somewhat smart too. To take a subculture of porn and make it, and her, into a more mainstream thing, so much so that she ends up on Adult Swim and makes you quite a bit of cash, is smart.

How come when I visit the Spamhaus, there's a jillion members who never/rarely contribute in the main forums in there?

So I'm going to guess that 90% of the most vocal haters of things like Justin Beiber and Twilight have never actually listened to his music or read those books or watched those movies. They just do it because it's the thing that people on the internet do.

I still have the privilege of saying I have never ever heard Justin Bieber. Not having watched tv (other than the occasional Mexican programming when I visit my mother) in years has kept me out of the mainstream.

I have, however, seen the first Twilight Movie. My little sisters wanted to watch it (and I knew nothing about it) so I agreed to it. When I figured out it was some corny vampire love story for teenage girls I thought 'ok, well this isn't so bad. At least there is SOME action in this.' then when I got the scene where Edward started sparkling in the sunlight I lost my shit. I have not seen any movies after that.

I dont hate Beiber, I have heard his earlier music which was good, haven't heard any of his music after he entered the label. What i find completely intolerable and I'm not saying this pointing to anyone. are the crazed fans that make the most stupid things to prove they are the No. 1 fans. I've actually got a few friends who have told me they would foot the bill if I got a Gaga tattoo. Nothing that grandiose but something fairly substantial.

I've never been a big fan of tattoos (on me at least) but I've always tossed it around as an idea. Like you, I have no idea what I'd be comfortable actually getting that I wouldn't mind having around.

I'm thinking something like:

Omnia vincit amor – love conquers all (sounds good, but I'm not quite at that stage yet. Im still full of hate and discontent for now)
Fortes fortuna iuvat – fortune favors the brave (the motto of my battalion)
Consilio et animis – by wisdom and courage (courage is good, wisdom, I'm not quite there yet)
Scientia potestas est – knowledge is power (again, not at the level of knowledge I would consider necessary to earn this one)
