QUOTE The A6M was usually referred to by its pilots as the Reisen (零戦, zero fighter), "0" being the last digit of the imperial year 2600 (1940) when it entered service with the Imperial Navy. So Reisen from Touhou is named after the Zero. I didn't know that for a ridiculously long time, I thought it was just called Reishiki for zero-type. Just recently learned it from a NAFO meme where they're bombing the Kerch Strait Bridge in Zeros. (IMG:[ files.catbox.moe] https://files.catbox.moe/1tet1s.jpg)

"People on modern social media can't seem to grasp that two people completely disagreeing with each other on some subject, doesn't automatically mean they don't like each other.".

That people are way too lazy, even if it's hypocritical coming from me of all scrubs. But still. Somehow, there are people that make me seem like a reasonable and well adjusted adult...
That's not ok. Not ok at all...

Given how badly I was treated by others and how bad my luck has been all year, I will never donate to charity again. If I have to donate, it'll be for environmental causes. Unlike people, trees can't act like jerks to me.

QUOTE(elda88 @ Oct 30 2022, 11:21) Unlike people, trees can't act like jerks to me. [ www.advnture.com] Hiker killed by falling tree at remote National Park campsiteQUOTE The NPS hasn't given any further details about the accident, but last week, officials at Yosemite National Park shared a warning that relaxing under trees can be very dangerous at this time of year due to a phenomenon called summer branch drop (also known as sudden limb drop). It can happen to any tree species, but is most likely to affect oaks at Yosemite.
Summer branch drop (SBD) usually happens on warm, calm evenings, and unlike wind damage that breaks limbs off at the trunk, SBD typically causes long, heavy branches to break off partway along their length.

Last year was the most epic Halloween ever. People went all-out decorating all month long. They were still cooped up from the pandemic, and had the stimulus money. On the 31st, the safety Karens decided that people were going to do daylight trick-or-treating, and it backfired gloriously. The weather was perfect, sunny and dry. Mobs of people started a couple hours before dusk, but they didn't go in like they were supposed to. They stayed out all evening until 10 PM, 12 AM, even later. It was like the Mardi Gras Halloween - there had never been more people, more elaborate costumes, or longer trick-or-treating.
This year? Barely anybody decorated. I've never seen fewer Jack-O-Lanterns in my life. The crop failed, pumpkins were $50 apiece, and kids no longer do handicrafts - is what it looked like. Cold & wet with torrential rain most of the day. Inflation, bad economy, and a candy shortage. It was on a Monday so everyone was crabby and wanted to get to bed early. Low-effort, storebought costumes, barely any houses participating, people just watching TV indoors like it was any other day of the year. It sucked! We need a do-over.
