I stopped in at a brick & mortar today for the first time in months. It was surreal. This giant air-conditioned store, two employees playing on their phones, and no customers. A grid of surveillance cameras, everything over $20 spider-wrapped, and no customers.
In years past they had racks up to the ceiling Costco-style. Now it's floor-level only. You might not notice if you hadn't been there before, but 2/3 of the merchandise they used to carry is gone.
Boy, is it expensive to get something instantly. We used to take it for granted. They charge 3x what you would pay online.
Even with that markup, they're still going to go out of business. It can't pay for a giant empty store.
