I'd be lying if I said I didn't Google it. Though I vaguely remember seeing The Maxx on MTV's Oddities in my youth. So I'm not ignorant of it. Never read the comic, though.

I think the way I feel about racism can best be summed up like this;

If you want to hurt me, your going to hurt me anyway you can. You don't care about the concequences of your actions, your just out to cause destruction without remorse. That's fine, don't complain when i return the suffering. But sometimes people can say racist things, without being a racist person.

And to those people, I would rather give the benefit of the doubt and a little correction, than just jump on the "racist! Burn the heretic" bandwagon.

I agree. I don't use that word, at all. Ever. It has no place in my vocabulary, nor do any racial slurs, which are also absent. One of the more memorable turnarounds in a persons career was Richard Pryor's after his visit to Africa. Never used the N word again.

Well, the internet allows you to be anonymous. So if you can't be yourself on the internet, where can you be yourself? I don't like prejudice of any kind, and I am just being myself when I speak out against it. If part of someone being themselves is to tell me to STFU, then so be it. As the late George Carlin once said "I have the freedom to say whatever I like, and you have the freedom to kill me, if you don't like what I say".

Regarding South Park, I am familiar with that incident and they raise a valid point, but sadly the truth is, at the time they wanted to air that episode, the loss of human life was a very real threat. They have shown Mohammed in a South Park episode before, but at that time we didn't have the same climate as we did after 9/11.

Is it worth endangering human life for the sake of "equality"? I believe it is. But people like you and me, we are seldom the people in charge. And the people who are in charge, are the ones who tell us how it's going to be. Such is life.

Amusingly enough, the episode that first featured Mohammed was still aired during reruns between seasons until the powers that be removed that episode from the re-run line up.
