So the Phasewalk is out for the Siren in Borderlands 2... that's kinda disappointing. That was a really useful skill to have when you aren't a tank character and you come under heavy fire. The new Phaselock ability seems like it could be as useful but probably not until high levels. Oh well, still looking forward to Borderlands 2 and kicking some ass with the ole Siren once again.

I logged on to Spiral Knights for the first time in like half a year. Apparently they added missions recently.

I was determined to get Fallout: NV to work on my laptop, and after an hour of tweaking the shit out of it, I actually got the sucker to run on a 128 MB graphics card (the shitty intel one) and essentially shitty everything else (I only met the minimum RAM requirements). Sure it looks like shit, lags to hell at some points, crashes every-so-often, generally causes all sorts of bugs and graphics issues, and over heats my laptop to the point of it simply powering down completely. However, I regress, the most important thing is that I can now play it without buying or borrowing another laptop! I've actually made a bit of progress (made it to Boone, and launched the ghouls into space), though one must have a lot of patience.

I remember you and rad trying to get me on board for that. Kinda glad I didn't look into. Not that my computer could handle anything that wasn't made in something more advanced than Flash.

Why does Amazon keep doing PC downloads as their deal of the day? PC gamers usually know their way around the ole computer and probably aren't running to Amazon for their downloads. Console gamers do since it's Amazon versus the world in actually giving a good deal on that nice disc.

That awkward moment when you're relieved after beating a long, hard level, but then realize you stupidly forgot an important little thing and have to do it all over again...

The Guinness Book has determined, through a popular vote, that Call of Duty: Black Ops has the greatest ending in video game history. I puked a little... not in my mouth but directly onto my keyboard. [ kotaku.com] http://kotaku.com/5884583/the-50-best-vide...-with-black-ops

Popular votes mean nothing. The opinions of few thousand fanboys mean nothing. The most idiotic are always the most vocal. How many gamers even knew this was up for voting?
Plus, it's assembled from 13,000 votes. Are you kidding me? That's not even a thousandth of a percent of all the gamers on the planet. Guinness, you failed hard.

[ kotaku.com] http://kotaku.com/5884583/the-50-best-vide...-with-black-opsIt was a decent ending, but nowhere near best in video game history. FAAAAAR from it. Hell if they had to take one from call of duty I would say it was the original Modern Warfare. Anyways, I think that title is reserved for cinematic masterpieces like the MGS series or great story-telling RPGs that keep you glued to the screen with mouth agape. Like with FFVII, where even without any spoken voice, and having to read subtitles at all movie scenes, I was glued to the screen and watched in terror as Meteor kept coming towards earth and destroying Sephiroth was not enough to save them. One of the greatest ends of all time... But Black Ops? Really? FUCKING REALLY? Did they ONLY ask FPS gamers or something? If you think about it, their survey of 13 thousand is but a tiny fraction of the gaming world and what probably happened is that those likely to answer such surveys from the game sites they were gathered from in the first place are the type who play FPS games and go on on forums and talk about their kill streaks. I'm sure there were quite a few young gamers who grew up in front of the TV playing call of duty games and cussing everyone out over voice chat.

QUOTE This clearly highlights a growing illiteracy issue, a large percentage of people seem to have misread this as "Worst" not "Best" and screwed up the results. 'nuff said

The truly interesting thing is that Metal Gear Solid 1, 3, and 4 are in there, but not MGS2. I thought the MGS2 ending was one of the screwiest and best endings of them all. The game itself, MGS2, is my least favorite of the series, but that ending was definitely special and its post-modernist view of AI and humanity was pretty powerful.
