QUOTE(derpymal @ Jan 7 2012, 19:43) I like Risk.
I am already proud at you for just knowing that game. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) OTOH, I don't know how well-known it is in other countries.... in germany, only old (old as in older than thirty-five (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)) people play it and it isn't very known..... "....any more"... that's what my mother said when I talked to her about it.... Stupid germans.

I guess it's just the people I know, but there are folks that don't know what Risk is?

Yeaaah.... I might have sounded a bit too shocked for just a board game--- wait. Did I really just say that? Risk is just too awesome to not be known. I wonder why... It's actually pretty simple.... and kind of evil....

And it takes enough time for two people to finish a game. Almost as much time as a four player Monopoly game.
ADDENDUM: Fuck. Brave Fencer Musashi was amazing. I'm super glad I have a copy.

I am hoping that the upcoming console generation would not suck as much as the current one has.

Never played it, but I know what it is thanks to my Iowan friend telling me how much he loved it. I think he had more Risk stories than farming stories and I never really understood the game even after all his talks.

What's there to understand? You put troops on territories and you conquer other territories until you conquer the entire world.

That tells me nothing about how the game plays out. It's like telling someone that for Monopoly you roll the dice and try to amass enough properties and money to buy out the entire board. I get the object of the game, but without playing it myself I won't actually know how to play it.

It tends to play out in stages. Early game, everyone is scrambling to occupy their chosen continent by slowly taking one territory at a time. Sometimes, this means some unlucky player gets eliminated because he picked the wrong one. Then there's the slow build-up of military power, usually by one or two players while whoever is unlucky enough to not be one of them gets picked apart. Then in the endgame, one player amassing a large army and just slowly steamrollers whoever is left. In a real game, sometimes this means breaking out another color because you ran out of pieces. I've placed over 60 troops on one territory and went on a blitzkrieg, conquering close to a dozen territories in one turn on a few occasions.

Turning in two or three sets because you eliminated someone and controlling several continents late-game with preparations for conquest can result in some ridiculous troop counts.

I'm surprised it never came up before but I'm absolutely dumbfound as to why my PS3 cannot do background downloads while I'm watching a Blu-Ray. Seriously, I'm not using any BD Live features so the bandwidth is completely open. Multitask bitch, multitask.

PS3s are bad at that kind of thing. It's baffling.

Has anybody a safe download link (no torrent) for planescape troment?
I am very uncertain with downloading stuff, and by the time I scrambled the internet for a safe source with my unknowledge I won't be in the mood to play it anymore....

uTorrent is perfectly fine. Just don't go for shit like Vuze. Those are things you shouldn't trust. This post has been edited by Lolicon_of_Sin: Jan 8 2012, 22:53

I couldn't even get a torrent manager, my computer is a crapshoot. I need to have it as simple/straightforward as possible... otherwise it'll probably break
Well, admittedly, these reasons are stupid.... The truth is, mommy will scold me when I get a torrent.... I feel so... ashamed....

I use the classic BitTorrent. As for the safety of torrents, its the safest form I can think of for downloads. Not to mention you don't need to sit there all at once and download a huge file. As long as there's seeds you can interrupt whatever you like, pick certain files to exclude from downloading directiories and yadda yadda... On that note, I have planescape torment somewhere on my external HDs as an ISO. Also, Risk sounds pretty fun by the way you described it mal. Too bad none of my friends would ever sit down to play a board game with me. Why do I have to have such extravert out-going cool people for friends (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
