Oh. I just realized that Dead Island 2 is an Epic Games Store exclusive. I hope it's a horrible bugfest which will be all fixed next year if the game is available on other platforms, too.
The original show was live-action on local public access; we never see any of that, starring Sam's adopted daughter Rebecca. Rebecca was apparently not evil, but she did have an odd magnetism to children. The Hameln corporation is evil, and is an obvious reference to the Pied Piper of Hamelin ("Follow us to fun!") Therefore the logo is actually a rat, not a hamster. They have a suspicious Mythos-looking mural on the wall in the purple tape. They force Rebecca to sign something. Sam disappears. Rebecca disappears. They make a CGI-generated magic television show which actually responds to your talking to it (most shows do not), which has Rebecca's soul trapped in it as a key ingredient, and they tainted it, so she now turns into a monster and the show has a dark tone. Children who watch it vanish. Amanda says "Sometimes... I feel myself... Rotting. But it feels far away." The true ending is still the player getting whacked by a Hameln goon, so the plan is proceeding.
It wouldn't really benefit from a sequel, a. spoon feeding it to the players, b. giving them a normie-satisfying ending of Hameln being defeated, or c. giving a massive badly-written expansion of the lore. Because money, there'll probably be a sequel anyway.
In the [en.wikipedia.org] original legend, the children just disappear and there is no closure.

So... I beat Sekiro, and it turned out to be easier than I imagined, and shorter. And when you consider that many opponents, mini-bosses and bosses meet several times, then this is even disappointing. But I still liked the combat system.
I did like it when Rebecca said, "I don't want to do that." Sam: "Who are you talking to?" Rebecca: "The man in the headphones." Sam: "There's no man... She's upset."
And there he is in the inset. They knew it was going to be streamed by a man in headphones.
We have the themes. Annoying TV shows that mesmerize kids, giant corporations strip-mining indie IPs, the Youtube videos that pretended to be for kids, then did subtly disturbing things, because it's so much fun. Rebecca's exact origins, how exactly the magic works, and exactly what percent of the tapes' properties are from her as opposed to infused from the dark gods that Hameln comport with... are never alluded to and don't really matter. The hired-on world-building team will make all of that up for the big sequel, but it never informed the creation of the original.

Fine. Like that ending in the original Blair Witch and the time loop in the 2016 version, some things just need to be figured out by ourselves rather then have it spelled out loud.
I imagined Putin's reaction to Ukraine's army using the Steam Deck to remotely control their gun turrets: "Gabe is in cahoots with our enemy!' and proceeds to block Steam from Russia.

Playing a Solitaire Collection game on smartphone. I don't know if I am getting smarter or the game become easier there. I can complete Spider Solitaire & Klondike(3draws) with ease there.
