Can't say anything for Atelier Iris, never played that series but I loved Ar Tonelico. If you want a good, traditional JRPG, AT 1 & 2 are sweet, 3 is garbage though.
Just once I would like to play a game where the 'grown-ups' (people significantly older than the protagonist) don't die or turn evil. I wonder what it would be like to play as a character who's parents are still alive and play a role in the story. Without them being some figurehead of high status like a king, queen, general, whatever. Every other protagonist just has to be some kind of sole survivor or totally independent of real family members.

I like the characters in Atelier Iris 2, though (imo) Atelier Iris 3 had a better combat system. I wasn't too fond of Ar Tonelico 1 but I loved Ar Tonelico 2. You might also wanna checkout Mana Khemia 1&2 (if you haven't already).
Played MK 1 & 2 and loved it. I was pretty sad I finished MK2 in a week (It was summer holidays =/) because I literraly did everything without guide or anything, and there simply wasn't anything else to do. Too short, imho. I love its opening theme "My silly days". MK 1 opening's was pretty good as well.
I figure I'll continue with AI since I laready played the first one, and then I'll go for AT.
As for AT I just don't have a PS3 so no problem. There's lots of game in front of AT when/if I get a PS3, like the Disgaea series.
