I'm just baffled that developer's still in business and able to make that game. Enslaved bombed, Heavenly Sword bombed, but they lucked out I guess. It's sad, there are a lot of good developers that have went out of business over the past couple of years over less.

I don't really care if is developed in Japan or US, the gameplay may look tempting

As far as DMC goes Dante was always Ham and Cheese, mixed with whizz cheese garnished with a slice of Pepperjack and American cheese on top. Old Dante was full on ham but he was great doing it.

The reboot of Dante just strikes me as an annoying ass teenager and I can't get behind his design at all. It's like he's a hipster to the nth degree and I can't stand looking at him. Now the gameplay might still be solid and fun which is likely the point but still. If RL has taught me anything most people (myself at times even more so) are shallow and his appearance is a sour point We/I won't get past.

New Vergil is.....Na they just fucked up there. Royally fucked up there.

I agree with Brainsucks, that's a great analogy for the "real" series. For me, the epitome of those games was him surfing on a monster and eating pizza while gunning other monsters down at the beginning of DMC3. Ridiculous? Hell yeah, but in the best way possible.

For me it's not that it's a "white" developer doing the game, it's just that they seem to have missed the point. They're trying too hard to be "hip" and different and they're distancing the game from the originals. I'm not a fan of Dante's design because if you've seen the lead designer for the game it almost seems like he's trying to do a self-insert (for starters, they've got the same bulldyke haircut). Speaking of bulldykes, he really looks like Hillary Swank in Boys Don't Cry.

As for Vergil... I'm pretty sure that if anyone's going to get worked up about this game it's gonna be the yaoi fangirls.

I can easily look past the graphical designs if the game play is really good. Seeing as it's a reboot and prequel, I expect some things to be different. My biggest concern is that they're going to make the game easy and simple, which seems to be a growing trend in games. Morrowind -> Oblivion -> Skyrim is a good example. As well as the latest Ninja Gaiden.

I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing that games are a lot more "average joe mother fucker" friendly and dumb things down so people can at least try to get into them before they straight up quit. If you spend any time in the FGC the skill barrier is a bitch and even more so if you're new to games all together. Even if someone picked up an old fighting game because it looked interesting no one new would want to play. If you bought SF2:THD you'd get your ass kicked from here to sunday because the only people who stil lplay are people that aren't terrible. The motivator someone is going to kick your ass isn't exactly something most gamers can get behind.

That being said though I don't think games should get inherently more retarded just to appeal to a new audience. Persona 4 Arena suffers from that horribly. The game uses a ton of universal commands, drops a lot of command normals and made characters like Kanji and S. Lab easier versions of Tager and Carl. The dev team sat there and said well fuck, Carl is too hard, make it simple. Okay grapplers have to at least do a 360 to knock off 30% life with a grab, fuck that make it a QCB + P. It's things like that where developers keep assuming everyone can't learn or aren't willing to learn anything outside AAAAAAAAAAAA. You don't have to necessarily dumb something way the fuck down to get more people interested. Just start um off slow and get them in rather than say fuck whatever amount of depth you've come up with so far.

Kind of. The Exile is definitely way overpowered to the point he makes Revan and Malek out to be complete pussies. You can literally take Sith Apprentices by the handful long before your party has a chance to react (The Force Jump let's you jump like twenty miles away towards and enemy to attack them). The imposing evil Sith Lords, Sion, Nihilus and Kreia you have to fight are easily clowned without so much as you just hitting them with your lightsaber(s) for about 30 seconds. It's a good game if you basically want to feel like a badass Jedi/Sith with no equal, but in terms of the original KOTOR's epicness it's lacking tremendously.

As cool as it would be to totally wreak havoc with your force powers, I'm guessing it gets a little boring being able to dominate everything. Thanks for the heads-up on it though; although I might have had fun, I don't feel too too terrible about missing out on it.

I hate it when they give you access to an extra dungeon only after you defeat the final boss. A lot of crap seems pointless when there's the "And now what?" feeling.
I also hate it when games force you to connect to some service in order to unlock something that should have been in it to begin with (Final Fantasy III extra dungeon; the Sooper 133t secret Pokemon (Mew, Celebi, Victini, etc.). I mean, I got fucked out of Victini because of that bullshit time constraint they had.

On other fronts RPGs also need to fix the term New Game+ when the + doesn't mean anything new was added. It's you playing the same game but skipping dialogue and running past things you don't like. beating up on things that annoy you is all well in good but hollow victories are the type of things that don't mean much in the end.

Beating a bot free is cool for the first 5 mins then the rest is just the nagging notion in the back of your head that there isn't much to what you're doing.

I love how in "Lost Planet: Extreme Condition", when you go to fight the boss of Mission 6 (Green Eye), I believe it was Luka who stated something along the lines of "Don't exit your VS or you'll freeze to death." And yet, after Green Eye is defeated, Wayne has to exit the VS due to Luka being a stupid fuck and distracting his attention, yet no one freezes to death! Why couldn't they just admit that the whole "You can't eject" thing is due to "Without that PTX-140 Prototype, you would have no chance in hell of defeating Green Eye" (1-hit kill; it's fucking huge. so running isn't an option; good luck reliably hitting it; it has the ability to kill any other Vital Suits with 1-2 hits, showing how amazingly strong the Prototype's hull is). It's just a funny contradiction.
