Charging wouldn't bother me in any sense until I see the advertisements. If I am paying MS for a service then they are profiting from me therefore I shouldn't be subject to advertisements like in the MMO case in P2P. I am paying to play, so they make revenue and I shouldn't be subject to advertisers so they can profit again.
Websites should advertise because we access their content and bandwidth costs, maintenance, etc. doesn't cover itself. Advertisements are a way of hosts to earn money to keep their sites open to the general public. That is why I subscribe to Spooky and LevelupLive $3.00/$5.00 a month for all the content I get without being subject to advertising is fair to me.
Admittedly I ignore most advertisements because I know what I like and what I'm willing to buy so it doesn't particularly bother me. It's more an argument of what I am paying for and what that entails. If MS pushed advertisements into you choose to view them area instead of something I'll run across getting to the things I like I'd be happy. The recommended DLC for your games is a nice feature on the channel list. Here is a list of DLC for your games you can go look at if you want more stuff to add onto your purchase to enjoy it more. That is how you do it and that I support in earnest.

I don't really see advertisements, but that's mainly because I just go to the quickplay menu immediately. Besides, it's just a Netflix box at our house, anymore.

I play Wii with Homebrew installed on it. Come at me bros!
So, how's your shovelware and disappointing third party game selection? Probably pretty cool, right?
I'd use my 360 Netflix more if It had more things that I wanted to watch available to stream. Last thing I watched on my 360 was, I think Str.A.In and whoever made that anime has no sense of context. Or how to build dramatic tension, suffers that Kanon problem of random tragedies and telegraphed deaths.
Maybe getting out of the realm of video games at that point so I'll leave it. Interested in seeing Injustice get finished because I like how it is looking so far. Those 5 hour supers and multi-layered stage transition has to go the DOA5 and make it optional to go through. If online has taught me anything long animations invite people to quit. That and fighters are venerable salt factories producing enough sodium for anyone's share of bad cholesterol.
That or they can go the SF4 series route where they pause 5-10 seconds on the ultra KO to say you fucked up. Ken Shinryuken finish is the game pausing itself to say "You have fucked up, appreciate this ass kicking you brought upon yourself."
That and Xenoblade are the only things that have piqued my interest since I bought that amazing white tragedy. I don't even care about first party titles aside from Kirby, anymore. Zelda? Mario? Both stale as fuck. Never been a huge fan of Metroid. Star Fox is just sitting there. What else do they have besides Pokemon, and only the handheld titles are good in that case.

Yeah; the Wii has been a major disappointment across the board. Not expecting anything better from the WiiU.
I guess one good thing about it is that if you softmod it, it becomes a pretty decent way of emulating old roms (NES, Genesis, SNES, adventure games through ScummVM) on your TV (and a hell of a lot cheaper than Virtual Console, which is a fucking ripoff).

I had a lot of fun with MK9 even though I'm shitty at fighters; I liked that they had some decent single-player stuff in it, because I get my ass handed to me in versus. I'm hoping Injustice is similar in that regard.

That seems fair. And I just got the Classic Controller with Xenoblade, might have to check it out, as long as there's no danger of bricking the motherfucker.

Just to be safe I'd read up on it first - I was stupid and ran Xenoblade with homebrew on, but thankfully it didn't brick my system. I've heard that if the update finds unsigned virtual console/wiiware files in your SD memory it'll result in a brick.
The good thing is that it's even faster and easier than the PSP to softmod, which is saying something. And playing Monkey Island and Sam and Max Hit the Road on your Wii is great; they really fucked up by not having more adventure games for the Wii...
Hilariously enough, I can get VC titles for free as long as I can find a decent torrent and load it onto an SD card. I've got Super Castlevania IV, Paper Mario, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Gunstar Heroes, Golden Axe, Golden Axe III, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, and many other titles. Along with Xenoblade Chronicles. Our Wii is now region free and we opted out of autoupdatesas well so we don't get bricked.
Fighting games are bad when it comes to content if you aren't trying to squeeze every bit of juice out of competitive play that you can. They offer a ton of depth if you're really good at them and work to compete & have a community to work with.
Straight up fighting games are bad at face value vs. most games no matter what you do. I wouldn't blame anyone for not getting into them based on the lack of initial incentive and online opponent's aren't good motivators. They tend to be assholes so far up their own ass that being a piece of shit seems natural. Not to say everyone is like that but that's the impression TOO many people leave you with. SCV & MK9 stepped in the right direction trying to give player's more content for their buck. Not every FGC player memorizes frame data, counter-hit only combos, and unblockables.
Now that I'm thinking about bad content wise KOF 12 is a prime example of lacking in FG content beyond it just being bad. Arcade, story, training, versus, and nothing else. The bare essentials and nothing else to work with. I'd rather developers threw in score attack, survival, team, and Mission/trial mode always just for starters then try and get unique/creative. BB Legion is an example of an idea expanded that could be fun if you collect fighters and mix it up. As is it's a lackluster survival mode where you get to use unlimited characters if you can't unlock them.

I completely forgot that I have a Wii. Haven't touched it since Monster Hunter Tri was released in North America. Hell....I play the Gamecube more than anything.
Why bother still having a Gamecube? The Wii does both. And thank goodness it does. I still don't have a PS3 because they cut backwards compatibility from newer models and I refuse to support such a shitty decision.
Anyone know what to make of this incident with James Rolfe (AKA The Angry VideoGame Nerd) and the Cheetahman 2 project/scam?
If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's the video that started this whole fiasco;
Since I'M not even 100% sure about what's going on, here's something from wikipedia explaining this in further detail:
A "fixed" version of the game, titled Cheetahmen II: The Lost Levels is being developed by Greg Pabich. The new version of the game will be released on an actual NES cartridge and is intended to fix the glitches found in the original game. To fund the game, Pabich started a Kickstarter program in which donators would be given rewards depending on the amount of money pledged. The program started on August 6, 2012 and is expected to last until September 6, 2012. To tie in with the project, a short video was filmed with The Angry Video Game Nerd, Pat the NES Punk, The Game Chasers, and Pabich himself advertising the game. The project, however, has sparked a lot of controversy as people have constantly complained to all parties involved that this is nothing but a scam by Pabich since he asked for $65,000 for the project when a game developer estimated it would only cost $20,000 to do what he proposes to do with the hacked rom on a cartridge. Others have stated that if not a scam, but the reproduction cartridge will be, at the very least, extremely overpriced at $65.00. Others have criticized the fact that negative comments alluding to the scam were censored.
If anyone knows exactly what's been going on since that video was posted, please let us know.
