I have never paid for a Call of Duty game. I've certainly played them, but what I was referring to were players who buy new editions of games regardless of them being any good. Players who buy what's popular. I own a lot of games and I can be quite choosy about which ones I buy.

You said "Call of Duty types", implying people who play the game. Whether or not you paid for the game doesn't change the context any. If you're playing the game and enjoy it, you're a CoD type.

I wouldn't say so.
Having seen a few episodes of Seinfeld wouldn't make me the Seinfeld type.

Yes, but you enjoy CoD enough to keep playing it. Just admit you set yourself up foolishly on that remark and move on.

Haven't played the game in ages. My remark was referring to something other than people who've enjoyed a CoD game. It's called reading between the lines. Spoiler text - Highlight to read... This isn't literal, Rob. You'll strain your eyes.

QUOTE(Anto of the Sand @ Aug 1 2011, 11:57) Appealing to... dare I say it... "casual gamers" by removing a lot of complications. Like attributes and accessories.
Fact: people who like to separate gamers into groups of casual and hardcore are douchebags. Making games are expensive nowadays. If you only cater to one very niche group, you will go under fast. Great companies have fallen into that trap like Clover and Bizarre. Fantastic games, but niche appeal. "Casual gamers" will always be the appeal to developers. There's more of them than there are of you. They'll just do what they have to to appease the most vocal in the group.

It's interesting how you say 'call of duty types' as if those of us who enjoy those games don't know what good games are.

The FPS community, as a whole, is fucking horrible. It seems a lot of FPS players forgot that video games are supposed to be fun and not srs bsns. You head shot me, that's cool, but you don't have to call me a faggot noob. I wiped the floor with you, hey I'll still say it was a good game. Wait... still a faggot noob huh? Alrighty.

That reminds me, I always wanted to send an email to infinity ward with the idea to add a 'mute all' button somewhere in the menu. I find myself spending lots of time muting people who have mics. I agree about the FPS community, and I think it started with counter strike. I never played counter strike because I didn't play video games on PC unless they were RPGs but I remember all my friends loved that fucking game, and they were so into it that they loved talking shit about it and generally came off as douchebags thinking they were 'l33t'.

It wouldn't be so bad if there was actually a way to really cater rooms to the right people. I thought that was what the Gamerzone thing would accomplish on the Xbox360, but it was mostly for show. That and there was nothing stopping someone really hardcore from choosing "Recreation".
I love playing co-op games with friends but anything multiplayer is always just ruined by the large numbers of assholes.

I used to play Day of Defeat in college during my off time on the campus LAN. I had a nasty reputation for friendly fire. If you are in front of me, I will shoot through you. I had a pretty high kill-to-death ratio, though. cmal does not play well with others.

Remind me to NEVER give you a weapon, even if I somehow manage to find myself in the midst of a zombie apocalypse and you're the only other survivor within hundreds of miles.

Do players actually take the time to go around their teammates when they stand right in front of them ? I don't. Fuck, you should get bonus points if you shoot right through your homies and still manage to get a hit on the opposite side. (And they should, too. Sacrifice pays.) People usually try to avoid actually firing or moving in front of a shooter. Blocking your teammates are usually not a good idea in team-based FPS. I usually played Axis and on our server the K98 could actually go through bodies and certain objects like around the very edges of corners. So yes, I would shoot through and kill allies and Allies alike from time to time.

Real men kill shoot through each other !
Axis, fuck yeah. I'm not really up-to-date with FPS, though, as the last one I've played was Battlefield 1942. (Not like I'm up-to-date with anything except drawn porn for that matter.)
