Playing support is such a thankless task. No matter how good you make your partner look.

QUOTE Dishonored is an immersive first-person action game that casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. With Dishonored’s flexible combat system, creatively eliminate your targets as you combine the supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. I don't care how fucking unique and whatever your combat system is, people are going to find the most broken combination and spam the Christ out of that until their thumbs bleed. Remember how people/publications were saying that Assassin's Creed's combat was going to be awesome? Dodge counter was so stupid powerful that it was the only thing anyone that played the game used as long as they weren't mentally deficient in some way. Sort of unrelated, but I'm kind of glad I gave up on that series after AC2 due to all the side story Ezio bullshit and the Spoiler text - Highlight to read... ALIENS! ADDENDUM: I sorta felt like the depressing, regretful motherfuckers that want to pump their filthy weeaboo seed into Kairi and just sort of went "Give us 3 already, jeez!" True. The only game I know that barely got away with that is Godhand, it doesn't matter which strikes you choose, you'll get your ass handed to you very often.

Godhand was hella fun though even on the hardest difficulty but that's just me. The stun loops and granny smack infinites on single enemies in that game were a ton of fun.
I do remember watching a friend play Two Worlds 2 and he had a spell that did some crazy bullshit. Apparently he summoned a tornado of rocks that flew around that would just batter things as he went. I can't exactly say letting people do what they want is a bad thing but everyone would pick the most broken stuff they could find to win. I'd rather allow you to do anything just make all the inputs and timing hard as shit. That way if you do something broken it's a null point cuz' you would have won anyway even if being remotely fair to the AI.

I never bothered playing the Assassins Creed games since my wife plays them; my big story complaint (besides the one radixus brought up) is how fucking lame the evil Templar corporation bad guys are in the modern day parts. They basically just keep throwing fat security guards with telescopic batons at you. I'm sure it had to do with the fact that they couldn't find a way to balance a guy in a hoodie with a toothpick fighting through a group of guys in tactical armor with machine guns, but it make it look like you're up against the special needs illuminati. I mean hell, make it like the Arkham games (or hell, the scenes in the past in the AC games) where you have to be stealthy and shit.

I feel like I need to play the Arkham games. People have been telling me they're fairly okay.

They are, aside from the lame boss fights in the first one and both games overall trying really, really, hard to be as dark and "edgy" as possible. There's lots of optional puzzles and shit that make you feel like Batman's being the detective from the comics instead of just beating the shit out of people (which he also does well). One thing I liked about the second game was that the story ends up being super camp homoerotic instead of serious like the developers were obviously intending.

My biggest gripe with the the Arkham games is absence of a lock on system when fighting. Running into groups of Joker's henchmen flailing around trying to land punches and kicks on whoever is closest to me just don't sit well for me.

On the plus side, you've got a lot of the voice actors from the 90's cartoon series who did the voices of their respective characters.

Losing the ability to control the camera during boss fights in Arkham Asylum really sucks.

Not really. Boss fights usually have a pretty decent fixed camera to them.

Tara Strong as Babs Gordon. She also takes over Harley Quinn in Arkham City. Swooning. Unrelated, but I would probably kill for another Ganbare Goemon game to get translated/localized. Double unrelated, still pissed that Mistwalker's Cry On was cancelled :< This post has been edited by radixius: Aug 3 2012, 21:09

The latter N64 one that came here was superb.

Dat it was. I liked the second SFC game because of the anti-white people sentiment, and the Goemon Impact stuff. Speaking of which, Ichiro Mizuki singing the Goemon Impact theme was awesome. Working Designs was trying to get some of the later games translated, but Sony cock-blocked them...ugh.

And then WD, whom I loved, went bankrupt and closed and Gaijinworks hasn't really done much of anything that's been interesting.

Sadly I think Vic Ireland is too busy on the NeoGAF boards to do much of anything. I thought of supporting their recent Kickstarter but Class of Heroes 1 was shit, 2 would have been more of the same. And supposedly Gaijinworks got the rights to a lot of Sunsoft's games, but nothing came of that either. Fuck. This post has been edited by joseph joestar: Aug 3 2012, 22:27

Max had shots fired at him again: Max Killing the FGC?I find it that whoever said that is just being an ass but it's true in some ways. Fighting games aren't the most welcoming genre to get into. The skill ceilings even for entry players now is a bitch if you've never played a fighter before. I've never been one to tell bad players to stop playing fighting games or to just quit being scrubs in general. Whatever people we can get I'm kind of happy about because intimidation for fighting games is tough for new players. Certain idiots are always going to bitch about bad players but that's just the way certain jackasses are in the community. Some will never embrace new players but that's not most of us. We talk shit and our lessons are harsh but once you get in the community past the language you are in. We're more a family than anything and I hate how people can't see that half the time due to bad press or our dialect for our genre. Intimidation factor in the FGC is rough especially due to our smaller size and general skill basis not to bash other games. Anyone that plays Halo or COD can wreck ass in that game due to a large pool of Experts to borderline mental retards. (No Offense.) Vs. Fighting games that even at what is low level play these days people have their Anti-Airs on point and can hit their BnBs without a thought. Oh well I'm sure whatever people that want to join will see past all the bad PR and get work done in fighting games. (Also good stuff to Max saying we aren't gang members.....Well some of us East Coast guys are but that's another story.)
