Hmm, I should buy a PS3 second hand and then rent all the games I want to play on it from Gamefly or elsewhere so Sony doesn't get any of my money...
Because fuck those guys.

The lack of last gen system compatibility is probably what I don't like most about the PS3.
Also, the lack good exclusives and the fact a lot of multisystem release games are buggy and or unplayable (Bethesda).

So why give that company money?

It was around Christmas and I had gone about three years without actually splurging on something for myself. There was some games out at the time that piqued my interest, and on a whim, I bought myself one.
Needless to say, I don't do anything for myself during Christmas anymore.

I use my PS3 mostly as a glorified secondhand Bluray player; bought it from a friend as he wasn't playing it anymore. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

So everyone here is saying it's an incredible gaming machine and must be purchased for its strong video game library and the related functions therein?

Wow, you guys and your friends need to think before you buy something.
I still use my PS3, PSP and DS for nothing but video games. I also enjoy multiplayer on CERTAIN games. I didn't buy a 360 because the exclusives for it just didn't appeal enough to me.

I didn't get my PS3 until about six months ago at a huge discount, so whatever.

I bought my PS3 for just one game, but I had like 15 grand in the bank at the time and had nothing else to spend it on. I still use it years later though; mostly for Netflix and as a bluray player.

I'm kinda amazed at how often I default my 360 to Netflix use when I don't feel like playing anything on it even when my PC can do the same thing. At least interesting things pop up on it from time to time which I can enjoy on my game console. Some I enjoyed: (Robin Hood: Men in Tights & Blazing Saddles) Others I regret: (Queen's Blade [should have known better] & Claymore due to the anime ending.)

Well, my friend played his for 2+years straight almost daily, definitely got his money's worth out of it in terms of entertainment. It just happens that the last 6-8 months prior to selling it off to me was that the games he was interested in were either on other systems exclusively, or moreso the fact that he was simply having less time to play. I on the otherhand do have a few games on PS3 but don't play much. I partly blame the self imposed small library of games. I did however just bought one of those hybrid PS3 discs with a game and a movie on it so I'll be double timing on the PS3. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Them taking out the PS2 functionality was a terrible move. And unfortunately the backwards compatible models are dropping like flies. The exclusives thing is a moot point though, since MS stopped having exclusives worth playing a long time ago (outside of say, Gays of War 3). The rest has been Kinect stuff. In the case of Bethesda they're just lazy, based on how buggy even their 360 ports are. But yeah, I still tend to get more of the western games on 360 though to be safe. Netflix is not shit on PS3, which is why I use it for that. The Blu Ray player is a nice bonus, but I'd still rather be able to put away my PS2. This post has been edited by joseph joestar: Jul 25 2012, 16:06

I could understand doing PS1 games, most people outside of collectors don't have them anymore. But the PS2 was still fucking making games long after the PS3's release. QUOTE The exclusives thing is a moot point though, since MS stopped having exclusives worth playing a long time ago (outside of say, Gays of War 3). The rest has been Kinect stuff. Yeah, I'm not of a fan of the exclusives like Gears or Halo. The system was more or less made to a demographic of American teenage boys, drunken frat boys and the occasional ni ggers. QUOTE In the case of Bethesda they're just lazy, based on how buggy even their 360 ports are. But yeah, I still tend to get more of the western games on 360 though to be safe. Like I said above, the system's got a different demographic. You won't see too much shit for Japanese games unless it's some horror/survival game, non-traditional RPG or the occasional strategy based and button masher.

I will admit, I looked at Catherine deVere's boobs when she told me to look at her boobs.
I think I've a problem.
