Didn't they reduce the difficulty in the first patch?
On an unrelated note, I am finding myself enjoying the Missions in Spiral Knights. They're something to do other than constantly dungeon-diving to grind for money and hoping to find an equip recipe you want.

So I've got three out of the four bosses beat in Deus Ex: Human Revolution and so far the only one challenging was Barrett and that only because I didn't bring an adequate enough weapon to fight him and had lob EMPs and explosive barrels to gets some hits in. Luckily, he's a fucking idiot with his grenades and threw a one near him and killed himself for me. Yelena only took me about two deaths to figure out she'll run into wall and I can just fill her up with heavy rifle bullets. The Jew bastard I just ran half circle around and got him to fire retardedly at the wall I took cover next to him and just shot small bursts at his arm and leg. The stealth method in this game is a fucking breeze and I've ghosted more or less through most of the areas so far. I remember playing The Conspiracy and Invisible War and thinking, what a fucking bitch those games were. Human Revolution, while not a bad game, is a cakewalk in comparison to it's predecessors.

Ehh, don't know to be honest. I got into The Witcher 2 right before they released the enhanced edition. The first major patch came out a few weeks after the release. There was a noticeable change in difficulty between the enhanced edition and the version I started with though. I personally liked dungeon diving in old school PC RPGs. The Wizardry series, for example, lacks a good story but I found the repetitive grinding somewhat enjoyable... I can't grind for long in a J-RPG, but in a western PC one, yeah I can bear it. I might be playing this game soon, if I ever go back to Fry's Electronics. To be honest I've been wanting to play it and now that it dropped in price it seems like a great deal. This post has been edited by Pseudoshy: Mar 9 2012, 07:43

Spiral Knights is nothing like that. The "dungeons" (and I use the term loosely) cycle every few days and it costs energy (sorta like Stamina in HV) to go into them. Basically, you hope that a particular theme at a particular difficulty cycles in because that's where you can farm the most money for the least effort. And then once you have enough money, you keep going in to find a merchant who has a random set of recipes to alchemize equipment and hope he has one you want. If not, you leave and come back if you've got enough energy. Otherwise, you wait until tomorrow to repeat. I basically got fed up with that shit and quit. The Missions add a new, easier way to get said money and recipes. And they're pretty short, so I'm not banging my head on my desk halfway through.

That... actually sounds like an interesting game mechanic. I suffered the weekly raiding schedules of WoW back when I played it, and I always knew exactly what the runs were gonna be like, what was likely to drop, and who was gonna get it. This at least adds a slight element of mystery, but because of the energy limit you're not hopelessly addicted and losing all day to a specific dungeon... Oh man I was horrible with WoW. I think I lived off pizza, energy drinks, and beer for weeks on end due to that game.

If you play Human Revolution and want to go for all the trophies, be aware that there is a huge glitch affecting the "Foxiest of the Hounds" trophy. If you set off an alarm and just reload your game, it will still go off as a phantom in your loaded game and you'll be unable to get it. If you set the alarm off, you have to completely quit back to the dashboard and go back in for it to clear. That's why I will always be one trophy short on that game.

[ www.spiralknights.com] Here's the game if you're interested. Its technically free, but it does have a cash shop. There are two types of energy: the free Mist Energy that automatically recharges over time and Crystal Energy which you have to either buy from other players or use real money to buy from them. You'll need CE if you want to get farther than the first tier since the higher level equipment needs more than 100 energy to make.

That's why I said trophy, since that's what Pseudo would play it on.

I would get it on PC, so no trophies for me broski. Unless they somehow implement them into the PC, in which case I probably wouldn't care about the PC trophies/achievements. Because if I'm dropping real moneyz into a game right from the beginning I would be disappointed.

Then I stand corrected.

Didn't see Pseudo respond to me, honestly. In any case, at least you're making it more easier to point how terrible the Paperweightation 3 really is. I believe Steam has Achievements for it.

Hah, I did overlook that somehow. I probably just looked at the latest post and didn't scroll up... Bad forum manners, and usually a good way to get caught saying dumb shit. Also, I love my PS3, since I love blurays. QUOTE(Robbie Pie @ Mar 8 2012, 22:26) I believe Steam has Achievements for it.
Hmm... I wonder if I should... Nah, I should probably stay away from achievements on the PC. I'm already obsessed with specific games and trying to get their trophies, adding that element to the PC is just deadly to me.

To get clearance to Tier 2, you need 2-star equipment and it takes 50 energy to make a piece. So actually, you can get into T2 with just Mist Energy. It takes 200 energy to make 3-star equipment, so if you use your 100 ME you can just buy another 100 CE (either with $ or in-game Crowns) for each piece. Right now, the market's about 6700 Crowns per 100 CE. 4- and 5-star equipment to get down to Tier 3 is where it gets pricey. If you don't feel like dungeon crawling, there's also a Bomberman-esque minigame and a capture the flag type of PvP. They cost 200 Crowns a game, though, but if you're good at them you can earn some neat swag.

I know right? Instead of blaming the developers for fucking up, might as well blame the system. Next time someone cuts me off at a turn I'm going to scream "Goddamned Fords! Those pieces of shit always cut me off!"

I might give this a try on the weekend, seeing as D3 won't be out for a while and I need a new RPG to hold me over until then. QUOTE(cptkleenex @ Mar 8 2012, 22:39) I know right? If you want some company, you can find me as Eisenritter. If you do the first few Rank Missions, you should be able to get set up with equipment pretty quickly, since they give you a few free bits and a couple of recipes as rewards.

This would of been clever sarcasm if you weren't basically using the consumer as the problem. :3

Is that what you're doing? Because I'm not really sure how your analogy works. Am I the guy in the Ford cutting you off?
