Not the extent to which players get mad at video games (a quick search of that angry German kid is all the evidence one needs)
Although there are plenty of legitimate examples of people flipping their shit over games, Angry German Kid is not one of them. [www.cracked.com] The video was staged. I know that Cracked isn't generally the pinnacle of investigative research, but still.

Before that, I was wondering why they have Zones on Xbox Live. Also, Pro is a stupid name to use for what they're trying to describe with it. Seriously, why does nobody remember what the word professional means anymore? Same goes for amateur; people use it like an insult when it isn't. Can we stop mutilating the English language, please? It's getting harder than ever to understand one another.
When I first got my 360 I set my to Underground cause I figured that was like the real deal gamer shit. After playing some online and realizing that people really didn't seem to play games for fun and would rather make them super serious, I changed mine to Recreation. Sure, it means nothing but I still didn't want to associate myself with the people who counted themselves as Underground.
Does anyone have the PS3 version of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection? I'm trying to S rank all the missions and I need a good player with all rank 5 weapons and items like me so we can attempt to S rank the hardest missions, specifically the AI boss fights and the mecha fights. If you're not quite there yet I'll help you beat whatever missions you have left (I've beat them all, got the trophy) and tell you how to max out your Mother Base departments.
EDIT: Forgot to say which game in the collection i'm referring to; Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.

I'll admit I had forgotten about that. I stand corrected with that example.

Except that it possibly wasn't and your assuming that is absolutely ridiculous and, by the same turn, meritless.
Fine. If it was an article written by someone in the Fighter Community, he's not only someone I haven't heard of, he's a very one-sided writer. Is that an acceptable compromise? Even further, do you have reason to suspect that I'm completely clueless on this matter and am making an 'absolutely ridiculous' claim?

Is it? Did I? Or are you having trouble reading tone again like everyone else I can't stand on this forum? Have all the posters here gone completely mentally retarded as opposed to half-way mentally retarded while I was blinking? What kind of idiot would use the term "pon d'flo'" in a serious discussion? The fuck, man?
Cool Option-Select, bro. This is the only comment of this nature I plan on responding to, and even this much is being generous.

What a stupid reason. Anyone that thinks that or agrees with it should probably be gutted like a fish and left to die. That's like saying "I didn't get to have ice cream when I was a kid, so my kid will get rocks for dinner." Seriously, it seems from what I've experienced that very few people in the gaming community have any respect for anyone else. And try to differentiate between an observation and an indictment. Hell, any time I record a podcast with my hearty, never-say-die companion his roommate is screaming at someone on CoD. It's awful and childish and it ruins the recording, thus my day.
Hyperbole. Not only hyperbole, but especially silly hyperbole that fails to whatsoever acknowledge the experiences that would prompt the kind of behavior Aris was exhibiting. You aren't obligated to agree, but you should probably at least attempt, maybe even just fake that you're willing to keep your mind open and identify with another human being on that kind of mental or psychological level. You can't at all empathize (not sympathize) with someone if their experience was like the one I had described? You can't at all associate yourself with someone who has certain viewpoints based on their past experiences, messed-up as they may be?

Doubtful. I don't have much faith in the attitude changes of a group of misogynistic bigoted man-children that are apparently so set in their ways that someone can actually say "removing misogyny and bigotry from the community" is "ethically unsound" followed by a digitized rallying cry of agreement. Then again; I'm a pessimist.
Yes, and why would you? Now if you would just explain to me who said and maintains this mindset? Aris revoked his statement, probably realizing it's not only stupid, but destructful, and the 'digitized rallying' you're claiming is a bunch of frontpage SRK comments. Your pessimism is obvious; if you were to actually look at the SRK article in question, you would see that not everyone agrees with Aris, and the agreements that aren't obvious jokes are very often obvious trolls. I swear, next thing I know you're going to tell me that someone named WINBACK made a scathing, sexist comment.

Bullshit. Maybe they should learn to handle their fucking anger a little bit better instead of defaulting to white hot anger and sputtering obscenities into their microphones? Or is that too hard to process? Honestly it's like listening to cavemen cavort around for dominance. Can't they have a modicum of self-respect and dignity?
...Are we even in disagreement here?

So pressured situations are excuses to act like a fucking asshole now? I don't see how that's an valid case. I've been in pressured situations, even as recent as 3:00am last night, and whenever they happen I don't turn into a bubbling hate cauldron of enmity and defenestration. ADDENDUM: When you do let the pressure get to you, that's when mistakes are made, and you fail yourself more than the people around you.
Excuses? No. Valid reasons to lose your temper? Your Mileage May Vary, but it's at least somewhat justified; when you're doing it professionally, making money, establishing a career, gaining e-fame or what-have-you, the adage "It's Just a Game" has stopped being relevant. I suspect you disagree, but at that point I have a hard time feeling like your input is as significant as you claim, because it's a mindset you probably can't associate with.
It might just be me. It was late last night when this whole thing started, and I had (and still have) Jury duty, so I didn't want to put myself out.
I'm just debating because I have some applied knowledge on the subject and think it's interesting, I don't have a ton of personal stock in what's being discussed. I don't even like SxT or most of the players on Cross Assault besides maybe NerdJosh and Kor. But blanketing the entire community based on one person is a stupid thing to do regardless of who the person is or who the community is, and it's pretty inexcusable to think otherwise under any circumstances.
My extensive knowledge of Monster Hunter is actually hurting me against these monsters. MGS has like a much bigger register zone for being hit by these things where as Monster Hunter has very very tight hitting ranges im like dodging the damn dragon, but because its wing passes like a foot above my head I get knocked off my ass and almost killed when in monster hunter thats like a huge miss. Plus in Monster Hunter the safest zone to be in is right under a Rathalos but in MGS if you're right under it you're gonna get hit by all of its attacks regardless. Frustrates me, but I can still S rank the missions.
I'm almost at that point in Chrono Cross where I usually drop the game and lose interest in it. It's always a little exciting to me when I'm on the verge of that horizon in my unbeaten RPGs, because so far I've been really good at pushing through and not getting hung up.
Also, all my other partial playthroughs, I always tried to save Kid, thereby getting Razzly. But as much as I like her, she really can't compete with Glenn in terms of combat stats. A shame.

Monster Hunter Tri (and the followups) has tight hitboxes on monster attacks. What you're describing is the hitboxes of Rathalos in any other installment (1, 2, Portables, Gs...), where unfortunately, you can get run over by his feet when you're standing behind him, hit by a wing if it's outstretched in flight, and nailed by a tailwhip that clearly wouldn't even take the hat (or in this case bandana) off your head. Oh, and sometimes you can be immolated by a fireball while standing near his throat, since that's where the hitbox starts for some reason. .-.

I actually started on the portables, so that's what im referring to. The hitboxes are even worse in MGS Peace Walker than the already bad PSP ones. I did just fine on MH, MH2, and MHF. I swear its like they used a Metal Gear and its attacks as the models but meshed on Rathalos textures on top of it. It's pretty ridonculous. Also, Tigrex is ridiculously fast for Snake. In the MH games Tigrex can be doged easy enough and movement is fast enough. Snake moves way too slow and you get hit at least 2 out of 3 charge attacks because even if you manage to roll out of range where a MH game would consider you safe, Snake still gets hit by invisible force. Also sucks because if they run you over they take about two life bars, which means if you get run over and don't have auto-life recovery items you die.
There is an exclusive monster for MGS Peace Walker called Gear Rex, its like a strange combination of dragon, t-rex, zombie, and mecha. It's not all that hard, and there's really only one attack that's hard to dodge, but its fun to see a new addition to the MH world.
I'd like to play Monster Hunter, but I don't want to play with other people. Games that are basically MP but have a shitty "SP mode" are bad and the people who make them should feel bad.

Just play MP by yourself, personally I just disable the chat logs and invite shit. Most games do become rather difficult or time consuming though, but I enjoy the challenge.

That sounds like Tigrex-scale damage.

I think I've seen it. It has a laser-firing antennae or something, doesn't it? I wouldn't have minded seeing it appear in an Event Quest in P3rd or something, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
cd'mal, if you don't mind the challenge, you can always play a PSP MonHan game and do MP quests solo. Most quests in the series are soloable, but they're quicker and easier (and usually more fun) with at least 2 other people.

I don't get the emphasis on multiplayer in this last generation, then again I hate most of the people I've ever met online.
When vidya games went "mainstream", it turned into a social activity instead of something you do in your room by yourself. Once teledildonics becomes feasiable, even masturbating will become a multiplayer activity.
I'm thinking of getting Monster Hunter 3 for the PS3 (the HD port from the PSP) when it comes out. Dear lord I will surely spend hundreds of hours on that. To be honest I got extremely far and made some of the rarest and best armors and weapons by playing alone. The only time I played multiplayer was with an old roommate who usually played the same PSP games I did. Even if you play by yourself you can still get pretty fucking far in the game.
The games are so simple but so damn fun. Whenever I played with my partner I usually switched up to gunner armor and some sort of gun.
From 1:42 to 1:50, all those dodges would have registered as hits in MGS Peace Walker. As a veteran MH player who uses primarily Sword and Shield weapons with Dual Swords as my secondary set, my mind is conditioned to stay in their faces and deliver constant punishment. Can't do that at all in MGSPW, gotta stay far far away from Tigrex, Rathalos, and Gear Rex. The only thing I love about fighting these things in MGS is that you can finally take a rocket to their fucking faces. It's extremely easy to knock them out of the sky and its hilarious to see it happen so often. It's like 'what, Rathalos? You're getting ready to fly away? ROCKET TO THE FACE!' and he slams down into the ground.
